Another Aussie on Board
Good morning fellow Gretsch lovers.
After being a long time admirer, I have just orderd my first Gretsch, an Orange 5420T. I am as excited as a little kid at Christmas, I cant wait to receive it.
I just hope my Tele doesn't get jealous.

I've not see one of the new 5420's in the flesh yet. How about a quick review when you post the photo?

Thanks for the warm welcomes.
I have ordered my 5420 from OS. There are are a couple at Musos Corner in Newcastle for $1,599 but they didn't have an "Orange" so it was cheaper to buy from OS unfortunately.
I will give a run down on my impressions together with some pics when I receive it.

You may need to budget for some transition counseling for your Tele, but in the end, they will both get along famously.

PS We're not fooled here. It's quite apparent that there's some sort of political move afoot among you Aussie types; perhaps thinking that mere numbers may turn events your way. Well, it's A440 in Melbourne just like it is in Chicago and the E7th chord rocks just as hard if it's powered by vegamite or Laura Scudders. So sit down, plug in,tune up, and start counting to 4. What are ya drinking?

Hi,
Welcome from another new member from Oz. My 5120 came from OS and we received a $50 customs bill, so just be prepared for that! Still worked out much cheaper and it arrived in perfect condition.
Also, it is mandatory to post pics asap so make sure you do. (Mine have been added to my new-intro post for anyone who wants to see what I got for my 50th birthday!).
We need to recruit a few more from Oz to achieve our plan of Forum domination, just keep it to ourselves for now...)

As a matter of interest,what did you paid for the OS order compared to the $1599 at Muso's Corner?

It was $875 plus expedited freight which was about $380. Even with a customs charge of say $50 I will still be in front. Because the price is under $1,000 no GST should be assessed by customs. |
