My new life and a 6122S
Hi from Tenerife, Spain!
My name is Julio and just recently at 44, I have started earning a living for the 1st time in my life as a working musician!
I play George Harrison in a Beatles Tribute playing 5 nights a week and I'm a very happy chappy.
So I got myself Gretsch, a Country Classic I.
Very nice guitar, although the bridge is new to me and I'm planning on fixing it down.
I'll go to the right place for advise on that.
Peace
And remember: Thoughts become things. Seriously

Hi Julio, wishing you a warm welcome to the G-T forum. You'll find lots of helpful and friendly folks here that are all too happy to impart their knowledge, so ask away
Sounds like you enjoy having a busy playing schedule, great stuff. And that's a fab guitar you have for the job.
Ok so......do you look like George?

With the wig, I get away with it.
Thanks on the compliments, lads.
I grabbed her on a 24 h auction from a distributor for $1400. Although listed as used, it seemed completely unplayed or at least refinished since its a 2000 model sn: 005122s-512
The only "problem" are these cracks on the side under the finish ( will post pics of that as well) that just seem cosmetic. Doesnt bother me at all.
Pics to follow.
Peace

And the "thing" :
So what are these cracks? Is it common? Should I be worried? I'm certainly not at the moment.
We are getting on juuuust fine.

That is beautiful guitar mate, enjoy it. I wouldn't worry about the finish cracks either.
Just don't wash it or leave it in the rain.

Hola,Julio! Welcome! Congrats on the guitar and double congrats on the gig! Not all of us are so fortunate to be able our living as a musician let alone getting to play the Beatles AND get paid for it!!! Count your blessings. As for the bridge, I've also heard that cello rosin may work pretty well to make it stay put. And the cracks? All those do is remind me of the many ways an instrument is beautiful. Perfection is mostly transitory, appreciation of all beauty is a gift. I'll quit talking now because if my wife hears that I'm communicating with someone in Spain... we'll, she'll get real pushy about our summer vacation. Doesn't seem right.

PS Read the threads about "nobody warned me" and "it's all your fault" and GAS. You've been warned.

Jemjulio - Am sure no piss take was intended.
I too would like piccies of your band.
Down here here deepest Cornwall we have a tribute band called Not The Beatles. They're really very good and always draw a good crowd.
I love Beatle songs, and am still chipping away at getting at least one covered in my band.
So...piccies please
PS: love your Gretsch

Hi Julio, and welcome.
I went to see a Brit combo called The Bootleg Beatles a few weeks ago here in Sydney Australia. They were damn good, too.
What impressed me most about the playing was just how busy everyone was. Each guitar had its part which meshed perfectly with the others. I've only ever played Beatles in a very sloppy way.
It must be fun to play it for real, getting every note right.
Love the guitar, too.
