Default Hello, I´m new here

Hi,

being a long time Fender fan and proud owner of a real 79 Preci, I always wanted a real Strat, but when I had the opportunity to get one as a birthday present, I decided to get a Gretsch instead, because I´m very much into rockabilly music and related styles at the moment.
So now I´m a very happy owner of a 5120 in orange.
Not long after taking it home, I began to search the internet for possible modifications in order to make the guitar sound more like a 6120. That´s when I found out about this forum.
Now I did the so-called clarity adjustment. I tried a few things out and I swear I will lay down the screwdriver now and leave the guitar as its is even though I still think there could be a little more high end with clean amp settings.
But in case I really want more of that sparkling sound, my old danelectro equalizer pedal will do the job. I definitely will leave the pickups stock.
Hey, they got "Gretsch" written all over them, so how on earth would I take them off?
Really nice guitar, feels and play just great and is versatile enough for any style.

Hi blackberryblossom, welcome to the forum. You need different pickups if you want your 5120 to sound more like a 6120.

Welcome blackberryblossom. Filtertrons are a good addition to a 5120 - they'll give you that "Great Gretsch sound".

Hi BB. Welcome. You beat me to it! You are in the land of mod-aholics. However, if you have an addicition, this is the one to have. I was going to ask the crowd here if there was anybody who has left anything other than a museum quality Gretsch unmodified?

The question now is, two years from now, will you remain unaffected?

Have a seat. Nice guitar. Those tuners holdin' up ok?

Well, I don´t do gigs, I only play at home, so the guitar going out of tune isn´t much of a problem for me. The Gretsch stays in tune as good as my other guitar, a squire standard Strat with Fender Tex-Mex single coils, does.
But it sounds soooo much better!

Hi, thank you.
But I think if I had the money, I´d rather spend it on some guitar lessons.
I really think I leave the guitar as its is - for now...
