Heydee Ho
Hi all. Just joined to learn more about a forthcoming purchase which will be a Gretsch. I have been playing for quite some time, am in a band called Tangier on ATCO which is now in the "Where are they now" file.
I have a pretty decent collection but am ashamed to say I never owned a Gretsch of any kind. Just never got around to it. Have been looking at quite a few lately and trying to gleen as much info here as possible. I am recording some new material and really need the tone that only a Gretsch can give. Am trying to figure out which is best. I really tend toward vintage but some of these new ones look pretty awesome - not sure how they sound. Really need the twang tone. Love the vintage Roundups but they seem a little high right now even as prices are down. Any comments are very welcome. Anyone with a cool vintage for sale, let me know. When I narrow down what I want I will post a WTB in the classifieds. Probably laugh me out of here but that 6120 6/12 double neck seems kind of cool but have no idea what it sounds like. Look forward to meeting some of you.
Cheers,
Doug Gordon

Greetings Doug...welcome to the forum!!!! your in the right place for good advice...i'd recommend that you try as many Gretsch guitars as you can...both hollowbody & solid body to see what your comfortable with...TV Jones make pick ups for Gretch so you can go on their website and check out some info & listen to their sound bytes too..also: i'm fairly new to the Gretsch brand as well...l found the Streetsounds Guitar store site very helpful ..as you click on to each listing; you can scroll down and get all the specs on the guitar...they also have great deals...there are great deals to be found on these pages as well...all the best!!!! cheers!

Hey, Doug. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good advice and opinions to be found here. It's a great place for learning about Gretsch guitars, which can sometimes be rather difficult to pin down. Good luck in your search!

Welcome to the inner twangdom! My only question for you is "Got a spare G string you can loan me?" I'm talkin' guitar strings son, not undergarments.

Hi Doug, welcome to Gretsch Talk. If twang is your thang you need a gretsch with those HiLo'Tron pickups. They're the twangmeisters all right. All the Gretsch's twang pretty well (except the 5120's with the Gretschbucker pickups) and I'm sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for. I just picked up a 1960 Double Anni with HiLo's and whew! "Holy twang Batman!"
