Hiya!
Hi guys, I've been reading on this site for a while now, great stuff. I'm the proud owner of a G5125 and currently am on the prowl for a 6120. The best prices I've seen are all in the U.S. I can get the same model for around 500€s less if I order from the States rather than buying here in France, shipping included! My question is - Will I be screwed for import duty if I get it from the States??? Any advice, anyone? Cheers!

You will most likely be hit with import duties. Since most governments have overspent, they won't pass up an opportunity to take cash from your wallet.

Yes, you'll get screwed by importduties and other BS...and it's STILL cheaper... I saved about 500 bucks importing my used but mint looking 6119 from Dave's guitars.

Hi Widsy.. to have a friend or relative here that can purchase it for you and send it
as a "gift"? that sometimes allows for a lower vat tax?

Welcome Widsy
If you are REALLY keen you could get it pulled apart and parts import is even lower - but could be dodgy

Well, I managed to find out on the net what I'd be expected to pay and was pleasantly surprised to see that for a used guitar there is no import duty and only 5.5% sales tax/VAT. Which will only add on about a hundred to the price! 6120 here we go. Thanks again for your imput, though pulling apart a Gretsch, Lostcat?? Man, you gave me nightmares with your suggestion, thanks though.

Hi Widsy, Welcome! Save up and have a quick trip over to the USA - visit someone like Rocky at Street Sounds (lots of folk on the Forum have very good business from him), play the 6120 a week or two while being a tourist, then go home - holiday plus guitar - you know you want to!

Hi Penguin, Yeah, I know I want to. I've been wanting to visit the States for a very long time, there's a whole bunch of places I'd love to visit; Chicago: to pay tribute to Big Bill Broonzy and Howlin' Wolf, Nashville, just because, Memphis, duh! etc. but at the moment I don't have the moolah to do both, so I have to content myself with a fine guitar and continue dreaming. Love the sentiment though neebir! Cheers!
