New here
Greetings forum members,i joined the ranks of Gretsch owners last week and thoroughly love everything about the g5120 thus far.I set out to purchase an Epiphone Emporer Swingster, played every hollowbody that was under $1000,and simply could not put the g5120 down.My first hollowbody,my first Gretsch, life is good.I look forward to sharing conversation/pics with everyone.

Welcome Electroman! I'm new as well and just bought a maple 5122 this week.
I had a rough time deciding between the 5120 and the 5122 but ultimately the double cut won me over and I'm liking the slightly thinner size too.
Have fun!

Congratulations! Now take the foam out from under the bridge and play us a tune.
What a lovely guitar, the walnut 5120s catch my eye!

Welcome Electroman 67
You'll enjoy all the info and opinions that get exchanged here everyday.
If you have not already read about this, the number one upgrade for your guitar is to replace the stock tune-o-matic bridge with Compton compensated bridge (cost is $65). You will not believe the change in tone, sustain, and playablity. And the best part, it drops in place with only minimal adjustments. I think MitchC may still have one for sale here on the forum.
Enjoy your new baby and the forum.

Welcome! +1 on the Compton suggestion--it makes a world of difference. How do you like the G-Dec? I just got one myself and am still learning how to dial everything in, but so far, so good...

I'm lovin the amp so far,i have not taken the time to dial in the amp either.Zimmerdylan has a thread in the review page of the amp,i posted a short vid there messin round with it.Imo most of the distorted presets are a little too hot,the first preset is the one i used to demo, its a nice backing track and the gain/sound is on the heavier side, which is what ive spent my life playing it seems. So before i try to vid the Gretsch w/ the amp,i wanna take the time to select the right preset backing track and get it in the right key for a jam.I'm gonna attempt to do some slow hand stuff for once,i dont play the way i do to showboat,i was born in '67 and started playin at 16,so MTV was a big influence as well as every band with big hair and pyro.I'm a bit older now and now know ya dont need flames and leather to make good music lol.I'm diggin everything about the Gretsch,i ran it thru my Marshall 1/2 stack w/ just the slightest of gain and my god the sound that poured out.Big grin !!
