New To Gretsch
Hello, my name is Connor im 17 years old and I love rockabilly and music like that, I want to play that style on my guitar but i dont know where to start, any recomendations. I like Eddie Cochran, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Cliff Gallup, artist like that any help will do thanks.

Im looking for playing info, help on where to start getting into the style beginner songs that use the fingerpicking technical stuff like that, thanks. Eventually I plan on buying a Gretsch, when i have the money for that I will ask for help again. Thanks

Hi, I also want to say "welcome" to KingHeywood. I have been a member of this Forum for awhile, and have posted a couple ot times, but mostly have been a lurker. When I joined I had a Country Club, whch was a beautiful guitar, but I found the neck pick-up to be too "boomy", which detracted from the guitar's usefulness in my band. So I got rid of it. But I otherwise liked the Dynasonic pick-ups, and recently I acquired a 6120dsw, and with the smaller body, the boominess is no longer a problem. Its really a nice guitar. So I am looking forward to being a more active member of this Forum now.

Welcome Conner!
My suggestion is to build up a collection of recorded tunes from those guys. In retrospect, I wish I had done that when I was learning. Listen to them and and work passionately on getting it right.

Pick any song you like and start learning it. Even if you do it completely different from the record. Then pick another one.
The point is to just immerse yourself in songs you love. When you come back to them again in six months or a year, you can go deeper into the technical stuff, the more complicated guitar parts. But in the meantime, you're working on songs you love. |
