Great story with my first Gretsch
I have been a member now for a few weeks as I was researching before I made a purchase. A friend offered to buy my Tele a few months back so I began researching what I wanted to get. The Pro Jet was my choice, only to find out he was not going to buy the Tele. At this point I had fell in love with the Pro Jet but being in college and working at a church where I have to raise my own support does not allow for guitar purchases. I saw a used Pro Jet on MF one day and showed it to my lovely fiancee. It was listed for $380. She took interest in it (which is strange). My birthday was coming up but I knew she did not have the funds to drop in the Gretsch. On my birthday I got a card with a picture of a Pro Jet in it saying a NEW one was on the way. The card had about 10 names of close friends and family of ours. She made calls to those friends and family and through collected efforts (and funds) they came up with it. Turns out MF sold the used guitar and back ordered the guitar. She called as she needed to keep a deadline. They explained that if another one would not come in then they would cancel the order. She protested and they offered her a New one at the $600 price. She explained she could not afford that one thats why she ordered a used one to begin with. After talking to her manager the nice MF lady came back on and explained she could sell a New one for $40 more than the used price! The surprise almost brought me to tears and certainly left me at a loss for words. I have loved the guitar, but the story makes it the best present I have ever received. I am lucky to have such great friends and family! I have also enjoyed the forum thus far. So far I found a case through reading posts here and am convinced that in the future I need a Compton on the Pro Jet! Hope you all enjoy the story. I will post pics of all my gear especially from my amp build last year. It turned out great!
