Serial Number Confusion!
Hi y'all!
So I have this great 6120 JR for a few years now (bought it on ebay 3-4 years ago) and have installed a TV Jones in the bridge position...LOVE this guitars! There is not country of manufacture shown anywhere on the guitar...not on the headstock, heel or on the serial number label inside the guitar. According to what I've read on other posts this axe was made in April '99 and is the 86th one of that run of JR's made (ser. # 994120JR-86). Can someone clarify this for me?
Thanks,
CTYMSE

Made in 09, but you've had it for 3-4 years.

No, it was made in April of 1999 (99-4, with 120JR representing the model number and 86 meaning the 86th guitar made that month.) The other system came in after Fender bought distribution rights. The 1999 6120s would have been made in Japan.

Yeah, I did mean '99 in my original post. thanks for the help guys. Nowhere on the guitar does it even mention Japan. The last person that owned it filled the body with cotton balls!!! I guess to control feedback, which I have no problem with on this guitar.
