Default Pictures of Paul

So Saturday I went to Gearfest at Sweetwater in Ft.Wayne In. Joe was not there this year but Paul Pigat was and he did Gretsch guitars proud! He did songs on three different guitars, a 6120 DSW a White Falcon and one of the new spider cone resonator guitars from the Roots series. I also was able to play this reso and found it to be very well made and had a very nice tone. Paul of course made this little twelve fret beauty sing! Paul also told me of his new album with Cousin Harley which can be had on the web sight and also of his side project called Boxcar Campfire, an homage to old timey music, think Robert Johnson combined with Jimmie Rodgers, good stuff!! He gave a copy of the album on a card! Yup you heard right a card! You go to the websight and enter the number on the card and it downloads the album on yer puter. Cool huh?? As always Paul was so cool and kind to me and everyone there. He is just a great guy.

He's the real thing. An educated guitarist that has applied all he knows to the music he loves.

Nice pics, Bobkat. Paul seems like a great guy - and as Synchro said, he sure knows how to put his brain into his fingers by way of his heart.

Synchro,

I took some videos of Paul Pigat at Gear Fest and would love to post them - but how? These are very large (75 MB and 90 MB) .MOV files. If there is an easy way to get these on the forum, I'm sure the gang would enjoy them. This guy is a great player and a fantastic spokesperson for Gretsch.

Unfortunately, I did not know Bobkat was in the room - I would have enjoyed meeting him. It looks like he and I may have been the only forum members that attended.

How did the new spider cone resonator guitars from the Roots series sound? Aside from the fact that Paul makes most things sound great, are they good? I have a dobro I love but having a Gretsch version is a must.

It sounded pretty darn good and looked great! The workmanship was outstanding! It is really hard to believe it was only 300 bucks!
