Default Here we come...walking down the street

Hey hey (who forgot) we're the MONKEES?

Im seeing Peter Tork with a Gretsch bass (a BroadKaster?) with the 4 -aside (fender style headstock)

Also Mike Nesmith is playing a country gent...and other guitar that looks like a country gent.... but appears to be sunburst behind the pickups - in fact it is a mild sunburst (anyone identify that?)

and a 12 string with natrual finish

Default You SHINE

Johnny Ringo... you are SHINING the light on some GREAT pics

That Brian Jones is CLASSIC

and that great Pete Townsend shot...recording with a 6120 in the studio...CLASSIC!

Can anyone find that pic of Neil Young sitting in the back of a Limo circa 1971 or 1973... he has his white falcon across his lap.... it is an all time classic

Default Monkee Bass

Hey in this pic
Peter Tork is playing a Gretsch bass with the four-aside tuners
and a 'square' Gestsch headstock

dammit this pic is so small... but you can make it out

This looks more like the new BroadKaster bass

has anyome got a bigger pic of this bass with Peter playing it?

Default Tangerine puppet

Gabba Gabba Hey !!

No one has come up with an identification to this pic I posted

It is of john Cummings on bass and Tommy Erdelyi on Gretsch (Tennesseean?)

The band is called Tangerine Puppet... this is 1966

These guys got together again in the early 70's... formed an awesme and super influential band

John Cummings became Johnny Ramone... and switched to BUZZ-Saw guitar.....Tommy Erdelyi went to drums and called himself Tommy Ramone

So there you have it... a Ramone playing a Gretsch!!

Whoa! That "Tangerine Puppets to Ramones" is a revelation. I thought Johnny bought a Mosrite on a whim, not knowing how to play, and immediately started The Ramones. That's obviously not the case.........

Default Johnny Ramone

Troy6120
John Cummings could play adequate bass

But he lost interest in music... sold his bass.... went into construction as a labourer

when the Ramones started... some 5 years later as you suggest... he was learning to play guitar from scratch

Would love to be there for it!

I will be taking in some music this weekend, however..... Elvis Costello on July 4th in St. Paul, MN, and Bill Frisell and Dave Holland on the 5th at the Iowa City Jazz Fest!

As far as Gretsch sounds, Rev H Heat is coming to Fargo at the end of summer, so that is a sweet event to look forward to!

God, I am so sick of guitars and guitar players...

Er.... except you guys...

For anyone with the $$, this guitar is in the possession of Ed Roman of Las Vegas. I had an appointment to go a see it a few weeks ago, but didn't have time to make it over. I would have left unhappy anyway...lol. Ed is strictly into celeb owned axes and other used guitars of note. Too bad - he was the largest Rickenbacker and Gretsch dealer on the planet.

I came in about 2 pages too late, but I just wanted to answer the question about the sunburst guitar that Nesmith was playing...that was a Gretsch Viking(simply a sunburst version of the Falcon of the time).

Thank you! I was looking all over for a picture of Rick Springfield with his White Falcon but just couldn't find it. At 60 years old he is still rockin' out!
