My new G6120RHH and G6163
Well, I'm waiting (im)patiently for my new 6120RHH and Executive amp to arrive (should be tomorrow, per FedEx) but at least I got some new Gretsch candy in today...
Got my new Gretsch strap for the 6120 and my new Gretsch 120th Anniversary barstools, too:
Now that I have something to sit on while I play, and something to hold my guitar while I play, now I just need something to play and something to play it through.
I can't wait 'til tomorrow!!!

Okay, so a few quick thoughts before I crash out (got PT early tomorrow):
Opening the box of the Executive I got a wonderful whiff of leather, like opening the door to a brand new Jaguar. Awesome. Absolutely stunning amp.
Next opened the 6120RHH. Whoa, lacquer smell. Hadn't thought about that. Turns out this RHH (new, direct from the factory) is actually NOS, being made in 2006. First impression: not as perfect as the 5120, seems more like it was made by a master craftsman, rather than a machine. This guitar just feels like a work of art. The neck is AMAZING. Holy cow. Fantastic action.
Plugged the RHH into the Executive. #@$@%#$@$%^&$#$@#!!!! Pure, utter, tone craziness. Tone overdose. Tone heaven.
Pics (and more detailed write up) to follow shortly.

Okay, first off, I did NOT sleep with the amp and guitar in my bed. That'd be silly.
I slept next to the amp on the floor.
This is what I found waiting for me when I got home:

 You got it bad, brother!
My other half makes me keep my guitars in the cellar, in case I get "distracted"
Fantastic looking piece of kit - I notice you managed to keep the drool off the guitar too!
Are you keeping us in suspense about the amp tho?

Thanks, guys... Yeah, Scott, I agree... Definitely thinking I need a cowboy case for it.
I'll tell you what, too: as pretty as this guitar looks in photos, it's 1,000 times better looking in person. Even guys I know who don't play guitar start to drool when I open up that case. That is one SERIOUSLY gorgeous guitar. I'm definitely in lust.
Oh, and the sound. Oh my f'ing Gawd... Unplugged, that three-ply top really sings, and even if I'm just holding it and talking to someone I can feel my voice reverberate through the body. Wow. Plugged in, it's well... unreal. Absolutely utterly amazing beyond any decent description I could attempt to give. It sings, it wails, it just does everything, EVERYTHING well. I've never had a guitar that would let you call out distortion and feedback at sheer will, almost like it read your mind, and play with it as you do it, like this one does.
It twangs like the best Tele I've ever played, crunches better than my old Les Paul, and screams better than my buddy's classic Strat.
I'm floored. Utterly floored.
Oh, and then there's the amp.
I brought the amp with my to GC yesterday to show a buddy of mine. We plugged it in... and promptly shut down the entire store for half an hour as EVERYONE within hearing dropped whatever they were doing to come hear it. After all the people talking about how great these amps are, I never thought it'd be able to fully live up to the hype. It didn't. It trounced and beat the hype like a red-headed stepchild or a rented mule. Wow. Cleans like the trumpet of Gideon singing the praises of God from on high, creamy compression at full run like no other amp I've ever heard, tones so rich they make Warren Buffet look like a pauper. Un-f***ing-believable.
If you haven't heard or played through one, I'm going to make a strange suggestion:
Don't do it.
If you do it, you WILL develop and absolutely terminal case of GAS for one, which will (most likely) be terminal to your wallet, your marriage, or both.
I'm in awe.
Any complaints? Ummm... a loud pop when you turn on or off the tremolo on the pedal that came with the amp. Gonna call Joe C. and ask him about that. Other than that, sheer perfection.
Thank God I love photography, 'cause otherwise I'd have never gotten a chance to have such incredible gear. Truly feeling blessed.

You're preachin' to the choir there buddy! I've been singing the praises of that amp since i first heard one in June a year ago. Let me let you in on a ll secret! I was perfectly happy with my TopHat Club Deluxe 2x12. Ask Pappy that amp was nothing to sneeze at. I heard that Executive at Nashville and was floored! I was trying to work out the particulars of how to get one and it wasn't going to happen so I came up with the plan to make up my own version! Hence the TH Head and the 15inch JBL loaded cab. I went bigger louder with all the complexities then I attribute to the Gretsch sans trem. Surprise! It's still different enough that it didn't cure my GAS for that amp! Had I the money I could justify owning both! Now with that 3x10 unit I pieced together it might bring the same feelings towards the Variety. At the next Jersey\PA Roundup I'll get to hear Redrocker's new Variety. That just may bring on a new onslaught of gas!
OTOH from day one of Gretsch anouncing the RHH I wanted it the same way I wanted the Spectrasonic! It will happen but life dicates that there's no way in hell that's gonna happen now but it will happen. Then again i fall for almost every new Gretsch I see! I bleed the brand!

The RHH is amazing, definitely GAS-worthy... It's beyond wanting it 'cause it's a Gretsch, and all the way into wanting it 'cause it's amazing, period. Did I mention how amazing it is???

GASSED Again!
Darn you guys!!!! With all the new cool gear you guys all picked up since Jukeboxes jam, it got my GAS really going. Today I was able to cut a great deal on a White Penguin. Didn't need it, but I had to have it... I'm going to have to sneak it in when it comes, because my wife is going to murder me!!!!! I'm leaving town on Saturday on vacation for a week, so the guy I bought it from is going to hold it for me until I return on 4th of July.
I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
Belonging to G-T is getting expensive for me.
If I keep reading all these posts, I am going to end up getting new gear every other week!
I need help
