white falcon stephen stills model
Yesterday I was told by a dealer that Gretsch hasn't built a SS Falcon in about 5 years. Despite that, it's still listed on the company website as an available guitar. Does anyone know why the Stills Falcon apparently was a poor seller? The photos on the site look beautiful!

I still see shops in the UK showing this as available. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Although I like the Falcons the Stills is my least favourite. Don't know why; just is.

Yes indeed, it's still listed on the Gretsch website

I agree with Bob, not my favourite either, maybe down to the fact it doesn't have a pick guard.
Steve Stills, great guy though who richly deserves having a signature model after his name.

Because no one likes Crosby, Stills, and Nash anymore. Also, that signature at the 20th fret annoys me greatly. Possibly others too.

They were a limited run IIRC, you do still see them around from time to time.

Now just hold on thar a minit yung whipper snapper. If I didn't half to git down to my arts and crafts class a the senior center I'd post a bunch of great csn&y videos. But I don't have time we are painting and putting glitter on egg cartons today. I'm makin a pick holder in white and gold like a Falcon.
Actually some Still like them a lot.

It annoys me too.
I still love CSN music but I'll be darned if I'm going to buy a guitar with a signature inlaid on the fingerboard.

I have one of these beauties, and it is the best guitar I've ever played. It is a perfect fit for me on every level. I'm not a fan of the pick guard, so that was a plus for me, as was the "aged" tone (the bright white tends to annoy me). I don't mind the signature at all -- everything tends to fade away when I'm playing it. I love this guitar. Although I used to listen to a lot of CSN (mostly because of Y), I wasn't drawn to this model because of Stills. It came up for sale in Seattle at a great price. It was a no-brainer for me, and I haven't regretted it since. It's hands down my favorite guitar. I think a lot of people are squicky about signature models in general, and the price point on the new ones is enough to give us pause. The guitar itself, though, without all the surrounding negativity, is amazing, well worth looking into.

One of the things I love about my 2005 G5125 is the oversize f-holes. And Steve was the reason I loved Buffalo Springfield, CSN and CSN&Y. So of course this is the WF that figures prominently on my GAS list.

There was a 2012 CSN concert on HDNet a couple of weeks ago. Looked like Stephen has retired his original Falcon from the road and is now touring with the Sig Model instead, You could see the inlay on the fretboard. Butch Walker's been playing a SS Sig model lately too.

Did you pick that one up that was on Craigs list about a year or two ago? I remember seeing that ad for months

Yep, that was the one. Back in January. He had it up for a few months, then took it down, then put it back up at a reduced price. That's when I snatched it. Great guitar! No issues whatsoever.

Anyone else confused? I am.
People here talking about the Stills White Falcon not being available but as posted earlier with a link, it's still listed on the Gretsch website and with no mention (a la Rickenbacker) that the model has been discontinued.
Still think it needs a pick guard
