Gretsch trading woes
I've got a mint 5120 in sunburst that I put tv jones wiring and pups in... Ended up wanting something different so I put it up on craigslist for only 600 and nobody seems to want it!
I might try to trade it for a gretsch clipper . Clipper needs some work but not much. Is the trade worth it?
Here's the 5120 in its glory . I made a tiled leather pickguard for her .

I can't afford it. But I'll say that it is absolutely criminal that no one will pay a lousy 600 bucks for that guitar. A few weeks ago you might have gotten 800 for it.

I've had it up for a couple weeks now. 500 was the closest offer but I think if I can get a clipper for it I'd be ok with it.
I think people just don't know tv jones.

I have a G5129 listed for $500, and A G5126 pinstriped for $800. Both price negotiable. No buyers or offers yet.
Would trade the G5129 for that G5120 tho!

It might be better to take out the TV Jones pups & wiring and sell them separately, put the old pickups & wiring back in.

Yes, pull and sell the pups, You can get $175.00 maybe $190.00 for the pups in a heart beat. The 5120 would fetch $400 to $450.00 with the Gretsch Dumbuckers back in it. Lots of 5120's on the market at $500.00. You come out ahead selling the TV's

You ask a fair price. Alas, the best I can offer is $250 and a wink that will haunt your dreams for the rest of your life.
Good luck.

Hey Hitone, I've actually seen both of those on CL, and I've been working out the funds side of my situation. I haven't seen either of then on there, do you still have them? I've been looking at those 512X with the Dearmonds and I love the 2-tone body and the look of them. I've never played one though, and have almost no experience with single-coils, so I've been hesitant. From what I hear though I'm thinking it's more just ignorance on my part and maybe I would like it if I tried it.
Like I said though, I'm working on getting some funds, but the 29 & 26 are the best looking of the 2X's, so as soon as I get some more cash together I'll hit you up on here and see if you still have them available. I just wanted to write that I've seen your ads and it's not completely time wasted!
Good luck in the mean time!

I sold mine for $400 with Surf 90s in it. I see them all time around Boston in the $400-500 range. I'd take out the Classics and harness and sell separately or bide your time to get what you're asking. Value and going rate are, unfortunately, almost never the same, on both sides of the equation. Good luck. BTW, I never would have sold mine except that I got a SSLVO. the 5120 with Surf 90s was awesome.

Keep the 5120, and blow the kids' Xmas fund on a 5126. You'll never need another guitar.
That's not the same as never wanting one though!
