Ordered the Green Annie
From Rocky at Street Sounds. He is a true gentleman and a pleasure to do business with. I will sell my almost new PRS SE as I already have four acoustics, and may be on of those, my Laaivee Parlor. I am very happy. I hope I love this guitar. Thx all for help and letting me be neurotic.

I had my hands on one of those over at Tony6string's house last week.
What's not to love.
I am insanely jealous (in advance)

Thanks Jeff, I think I did the right thing. I did handle a 5120 at GC today and I had the 5420 for about 10 minutes but if you read another thread I posted in you probably know that at least 3 on this forum got ones where the neck pickup did not work, so that and MF attitude was enough for me to want to get a professional line and from a shop that will set it up and test it prior to shipping. No more fast food for me.. Thanks again

And jealous you should be! My friend Jeff is talking about my double green Anni, and if your Anni is as good as mine, you are in for a treat. They are the best. They sound great but have a sensual feel that just gets better when you add a little power.
Congrats. Lots of folks cluing in to how good they are.

Yup, Green on Green. I wanted the Filtertrons or I might have considered the burst, but burst is not really a big time Gretsch color (not from my past anyway).

I had my hands on one earlier this year and I didn't pull the trigger fast enough.
Enjoy!

I spoke to Rocky today regarding a new pick guard for my 6117. I concur; he's a gentleman and, more importantly in a business, an honest broker.

Congrats, I sold my Black Phoenix this week and bought this green on green2008 6118T-LTV 125th Anniversary with Trestle bracing, TV Jones Classics and a pinned bridge. My third Annie (still have two) and loved em' all.

Thanks all, this is a very nice group and it is nice to be a part of it. I had a line on a 120th anniversary, new, bamboo but just did not want to pay $2,000. It is coool though, but so is this one. The 125th anniversary look very nice too, really cannot go wrong.... Can't wait to plug it in. I was in GC today and played to gibby's, dull finish 335 and a front gloss, back dull 335 with p90's. The P90 guitar was nicer but both were so heavy (boy, I never felt that as a 15 year old playing my 345). I also played a 5120 and I actually thought it sounded better... I was a bit taken back.

The double green virus is spreading! Congrats on your new addition. I bought one at the start of the year. Mine is poly finish but has sound post bracing (which i prefer). I love how minimal it is, and it also looks great w/ the hardtail and no pickguard:
Make sure you get the pickups very close to the strings. I bought mine used but it was never set up at all so i had to do a bunch of adjusting to dial it in. Where are your pics!?

Beautiful, I see you also changed the bridge.I chose not to pin the bridge for now, can always do that later if I find I need to but I really not a wammy bar user.

It should arrive Monday or Tuesday. It was set up just before leaving the shop to my specs. All should be good. I was told it had 10's from the factory, Gretsch told me the 5 series has 11's so I was a tad confused but this shop knows more I think that I CS rep....10's were what I was hoping for due to hand issues.
I see you also changed out the Bridge....do you find this adds much? Compton, yes?

Cool. Hopefully they adjust the pickups for you and file the nut. From the factory the pickups are screwed up (or at least they were in 2004 models): the neck was about 1/2" too low, and the back pickup was touching the strings when the action was lowered to a reasonable level.
Yes i put a TruArc stainless steel on. I like how it has smooth string grooves. I think this helps with intonation and there is a beefiness and slight warm metallic sound the material adds. Using it with 13's i get a very warm but articulate sound with a ton of rich overtones when played clean.
I'm very excited for you. Post back when the big day comes.

Thanks. I will post pics on Tuesday, if it comes on Monday I will not be here to unbox it, my wife will sign for it but I have a pre-op appt in NYC, so I have to wait all day to hopefully see it if I get home early enough. I am excited too, I would have liked to pick up a 120th anniversary but the prices are just too high when you can find them, that bamboo top looks wonderful but I have heard the pickups can be brighter than the filtertrons that come on the standard annie and I don't want more brightness. Thanks again

It might be a blessing. I think lacquer finishes on electric guitars don't make as much difference as say a pick change or different strings, and the TV Jones are brighter and more focused IMO; all things i don't want. The HS Filtertrons are really really nice and if you are playing clean at least part of the time, you will be glad you have them.

Thanks again, I play clean pretty much all of the time. You know, unless I do my Day Tripper stuff, but that is infrequent .

Congrats! I bought from Rocky last month and can also vouch for how fantastically easy he is to deal with. Very honest guy who knows his stuff.

Like Polish says, get the pickups up close to the strings and hang on. This is one guitar that needs nothing, except maybe a Compton or a Tru-Arc.
