If you want a hollowbody, most anything with trestle bracing won't feed back (Setzer models and others have that bracing).

That said, I'd think your best bet for rock is a Pro line Jet model with Filtertrons. Though it's not really a Gretsch, I played a vaguely similar semi-hollow Epiphone Riviera with Filtertrons for a couple of years--huge, huge rock sound, no feedback ever.

Last night, I heard a guy in a British Invasion cover band play an Electromatic Jet model with Gretschbuckers--sounded okay, but nowhere near the monstrous tone of Filtertrons.

Oh, and welcome!

I play in a cover band using a pro jet with filters and a corvette. No feedback issues at all

How is a Pro line jet "not really a Gretsch"? Just curious.

He's talking about the Epi Rivera.

Well, good sir, that proves that it's not the best-worded sentence on my part, but I believe you will find that the below quotation answers your question:

"Though it's not really a Gretsch, I played a vaguely similar semi-hollow Epiphone Riviera..."

A Setzer Hot Rod thru a Marshall. Holy crap! More Les Paul than a Les Paul. Honest.

Ummm, all of them. I play mostly rock and do it with a 6118T (my fav), a 6120, a Country Club, a Duo Jet with Dynas and a Power Jet with TVJ's. More than a few others too. They all work really well. Heck, AC/DC's Malcolm Young plays a Jet and a Falcon. Whatever spins your dials will work well, they're very high quality instruments.

PS:: Welcome to Gretsch Talk, nice to have you here.

Depending on how much your willing to spend, a great introduction to the gretsch family is the electromatic series. I started with the 5120....then moved onto the 6120. Depending on your definition of "rock", they can provide a wide range of guitars for different styles.....

I get what you mean... SSLVO will get you there as well - its all about the TV Jones pickups. Killer rock tones.
