Default serial BINGO

Well... does anyone know if they had a sense of humour at Gretsch in the 70's? I have a model 7575 but the serial number is 115048 (November 1965? I don't think so). In trying to get a reasonable idea of date, which I have always assumed to be mid 70's, I am a bit confused. It does not have any markings or stamps on the head, only a simple printed label in the body.

I guess it doesn't really matter as I know it is not valuable but it would be nice to know a bit of it's history.

Any direction would be very welcome.

Thanks
Jay

Jay... Uh... if you think the guitar is mid-70s, why can't the serial number translate to November 1975? Seems to make perfect sense... yes? Gretsch didn't use the date-coded serial numbers until mid-way through '66 anyway. They were out of business in 1985, so '75 is really the only thing it can be.

It's not uncommon that the serial on the back of the headstock is lost in a headstock refinish.
