Sounds great!
I don't know why you'd want to change those pickups.

Every guitar has its own sound, even of the same model. In mine I've tried almost all the possible options and have landed on the regular old filtertrons. I actually prefer them over the classics, Dyna's or T Armonds. To each his own I guess but if your happy where you're at I'd leave it alone.

+1 full agree with the fact that every guitar has its own sound, espacially if you talk of pre-FMIC stuff. I think they done a great job to homogenized the sound and standard quality production.

Pete. I've seen four or five of your videos and they sound pretty darn cool to me (filtered through utube). You have to satisfy your own ear ultimately but from where I sit, I'd be very reluctant to change those pickups.
I recently switched out stock PUPs on my Ibanez Artcore and would say it was easily a 200% improvement! But that was an low end Ibanez pup. I suspect on yours, it might be less than 10% or maybe none at all. For my money, you're chasing perfection but you're already so close to the edge you might well fall off if you go much further.
Good luck!

Hi Guys...has anyone replaced this bridge with a Compton and if so, what were the specs (posts, radius and string space)? My 2000 Pearl Jet has this exact bridge but I somehow goofed the measurements so now i have a Compton that does not fit...
thanks for any help!

My two Jets, one with Alnicos and the other with ceramics sound pretty much the same in most playing situations.
If your guitar has a bridge that looks like this though:
then change that before anything. I find that Proline Gretschs are really high quality except for this one piece. It was a terrible bridge that badly affected the tone of the guitar.

This bridge came off of my G6129TR Red Sparkle Jet. The replacement Compton was:
Radius 12 in
Post spacing 2.9 inch
string spread 2 inch
but you really ought to just take out a ruler and measure for yourself.
Post spacing is from the outer edge of one bridge saddle post to the inner edge of the other post.
Spring spread is the distance, E to E at the bridge.

thanks Bluenote...i must be technically challenged, i did measure but obviously not well as the Compton didn't fit when i tried to install it on my pre FMIC Pearl Jet.
I may try the specs you listed for ound two.

Yes, I live in Budapest

Cool city! My wife and I visited around 1997 or 1998. Really loved the Matthias Church on Castle Hill. Had some great food there. One of the best meals of my life was in Budapest.

Actually I am happy with the ceramic filters, but I have that irritating feedback and screen all the time on stage. TV Classis have the sam, or the reduced it somehow?

It's really quite simple. Paraffin and Beeswax are readily available. There's lots of how to info on the web. But basicially you need to SAFELY heat it to liquid ,put the pickup in for 5 min take it out and wipe it off

I should mention if the pickup seems to have already been potted you could try and warm it enough to remelt the wax

It will not hurt the pickup, it's been done for years. However I suggest reading about it first and then decide if it's something your comfortable with.

But if I change the old ceramic filters to TV Classics I can put the old worn pickup covers back? I don't want to them look like new.

I think Tavo would be better equipped to help you there. I've not pulled one apart.
He's "TV the wired turtle" and he's an authorized TV Jones installer....and a great guy.
