Default parts box tru arc, well, not really

I've been going through the Tru Arc or Compton dilemma for my old anni, and it looks like i'm gonna have to get a bridge base to compliment either, then i found this old gotoh stop bar in a box, so just as an experiment i measured the radius, 12", out with files and a bit of fettling later, one functional, incredibly intonated for a 15 minute job, solid bar bridge!
and even this compared to the old glued up space control makes the guitar feel and sound better.
I suppose I'd best get one of each just to be sure!

And here it is with the Compton SS and TV classics, not that anyone cares boo hoo hoo Sounds so much nicer than the space control, and hs filters that were on it, more balanced and sweeter.

Your homemade one was ingenious, but now your axe looks da bomb! Sounds so too I'd wager. Congrats!

It sounds smoother and more refined, and just having the spacing correct feels better.
I love to find a way to make my own stuff just so i know what goes through the minds of those who really design the good stuff

Cow, that's briliant! I have a bunch of those, I'd like to try that. How did you fix it on the posts, what's preventing it from moving?

Thanks It was simply a case of filing some of the alloy away with a half round file inside of the U holes, (it was just too tight without) and this enables it to fit over the posts but not move, i cut the slots with a small triangle file and there you have it.
It was fitted to my 62 anni's bridge, which has wider spaced posts so i have no idea if it would be any good on the modern base's
Surprisingly it was fine with the intonation, and actually had a nice 'compressed' tone.
Necessity is the mother of invention, you should see my car!!!

Haha, I've only got this 1962 dbl anni, and my spectra sonics, Sold my silver falcon an 59 ltv, BIG mistake, been trying to sell the sonics for ages now.
Also have a guitar i made from a hondo fatboy body and old harmony acoustic neck, it's covered in leopard print, as i hoped that would inspire the lady to play, but it didn't, I'll dig up the threads on that!
