I like many of the pickup choices available out there but lately I've really been enjoying the TVJ Supertrons I put in my Hot Rod. So far so good - love em!

Not qualified to say. I only have experience with Blacktop Filtertrons and Mega'Trons. They are both tied for my favorite. The BT Filters are better for some things, the Megas for some others. IF I had to pick one, the Mega'Trons as they cover SO much ground. Like both of these over every other pup I have tried on any of my gits. The only two that come close are my SD JB/59 pair, and my GFS Memphis Retrotrons (not so much for the pups themselves, but they just really really fit the git I put them in).
Gibson mini-hums, Tonerider Humbuckers, several other PAF Hummies, just don't compare.
Some good P90s I had were an equal for about 50-60% of the range of my Gretsch pups. To me, both my BT Filters and Mega'Trons offer all the things I like about Single Coils, and most of what I like about Humbuckers in one pup.

I have TV Jones Classics on both of my Gretches currently but the late 1960's HiLoTrons on my old Annie defined the true Gretsch sound in my opinion.

"Is that a Gretsch in your bag, or are you just happy to see me".
"Would you like to come up and see my Jet?"
Oh, other kind of pickups.

I have BT filters, Dynasonics, Dearmond 2000s and Hilo's.
At the moment i'm leaning towards the Hilo's.
I've not had them long but the Hilo's despite their low output seem to be a happy medium between all the others. They twang and growl, but have the mellow filter quality too.
Having said that, i havn't tried any TV jones apart from classics in a Hot rod, but that particular Hot rod was dead and lifeless when compared with one of the new Projets!!
I got the projet that day.

Got a ton of them.
"Ever have a good Dynasonic, baby".
"I've got a nice Double Jet to show you"
"Why your prettier than a Chet solo"
"I have just the thing to warm your tubes up"
"Once you've played this hollowbody, you'll never go back"
"Did you know, Jet players do it with chambers"
Could go on all day.

You couldn't argue with that mod Nads!!! the 5120 would sound killer!!!...if l had another 5120, i'd probably go a TV Supertron in the neck & a TV Jones Classic Plus in the bridge..couldn't go wrong either way!!

Hey Bobcat...you're very blessed to have a Dyna Falcon that doesn't hum... it must be a very dynamic axe!!!!! have you thought of putting a Chet arm on her!!! that'll top her off just nicely...recently converted mine with the Chet..very happy with the ease of use!!!

It can hum but it is not an issue! The tone is so sweet I never notice the hum! Mebbe it is because I play in the middle position and that makes it a humbucker! The combo of the dynas and the exec are just the bomb! No Chet arm for this un, I love the big thick arm and Gold B6. It's like a Duane Eddy on steroids!

I would have said FilterTrons until I got my Tennessee Rose, and then I would have said HiLoTrons, until I got a Jet with DynaSonics, but then sometimes I pick up the Setzer Nashville and those TV Jones are soooo sweet...
Guess I just like 'em all.

My fave is the TV Jones Magnatron in the neck position. I think if I had the chance to do the pickup swap again I would go for 2 Magnatrons instead of the Classic in the bridge.
(Don't worry, the Squier amp is for my vocal mic, not my Gretsch)
