What amp do you plug into...or what would you like to plug into...i've owned 3 tube amps and all three have been great...firstly l had a Vox AC30 Head & Cab a few years ago coupled with a 5120 with TV Jones Classics...l have to say it was a stunning combo...sounded brilliant.
Currently l have a Rivera Pubster 45w combo and a Egnater Renegade 18/65W Head/2x12 Egnater Tourmaster cab...both very versatile..all my guitars sound great through them...yet to test the Jet in it's new guise [mods].
May get another tube amp somewhere down the line...would probably sell one to purchase though...a US boutique the most likely..not sure which yet...looking forward to hearing about your guitar/amp combo!!!
Currently a 59 bassman reissue. Prior to that, I had the Evil Twin. The red knob beast. It had two volumes, off and too loud. I am looking into the new fender excelsior, so that one day I might be able to go somewhere with less than 100 pounds of stuff.
You have beed rather inquisitive lately, are you keeping notes on all this to be used against us?

First off, I don't really own a Gretsch, just wannabeez. I suppose you could describe me as that guy in the trench coat sitting behind you in the always friendly Gretsch Porno theatre. That said, I am getting by with a Fender Mustang 100 watt model (not a tube amp and therefore I am a devil worshiping heritic BUT it sounds very nice at 4 and it's what I can afford) and a very used Crate Retrofx 65 as a back up or a beef up (they sound fairly semi-cool together). If it makes anybody feel better, I do own an old Bandmaster but presently it is held hostage (in a friendly way).
Your a funny man Freddy!! it's been a little quiet lately...thought i'd throw a few threads in...HEY Bobcat!! love the Playboy!!..Rocky has one for $999.00..would be mine if l was in the US..a bargain.
I have two little kiddos at home and found that a small amp with a good emulated headphone out was where I needed to start my road back into electrics. Got my first Gretsch Pro Jet with HS Filtertrons.
I don't plan on ever playing a gig in my life. Just love music and the feeling I get playing a guitar. For starters I purchased a Mustang 1 because it was cheap and heard it had a great headphone out. I've been doing a lot of research on small 1-5 ish watt tube amps that give great tone for home use. So far heres my list of amps I'd like to audition and/or eventually own.
VOX AC4 (either the TV or C1) probably will own one of these in the next year. They aren't nearly as expensive as most of the other amps I'm interested in having. Might be a good first tube amp for me.
Laney (Lionheart l5t-112) would probably have to just buy this as have never seen one around but all the clips sound pretty great. Probably too loud for my home use needs but really love the sound of these guys.
de Lisle Nickel Box with Reverb have only ever heard amazing things about these guys too but wish there was more sound clips out there. I need to learn what the hell I'm doing before I even figure out how to order one of these babies
It depends on what I'm doing. I record with a '64 Kay 703C (without an isolation transformer or fuse. I could die at anytime). I practice with a Teisco Checkmate from the 70's. It has two eights and a pa horn (lol). I've been using my '72 Twin Reverb primarily when I play out. I've kind of shelved both Silvertone amps I have for a while. One's a '64 1465, 150 watt solid state, 6x10, one's a '63 1485, 150 watt tube, 6x10. I also use a '68 Bassman with 2x15 cab very rarely, I normally just keep it in the studio in case someone wants to use it. My bass amp is some weird Peavey from the 80's. It has eq sliders instead of knobs and I run it through an old 1x15 Kent cab.
I play my 5120 with tv classics mostly through a hot rod deville 4x10 for gigs. Recording ussually an old silverface vibrolux(safer at home from beers and broken glass that like to frequent the stages im on).

Greetings HCR..that ol' Silverface must sound amazing...2 fine amps mate!! l bet the 5120 really sings through them too!!! cheers.
My G5135PS Vette and Double Jet play through the following
I run both the deLisle and Egnater through a Egnater Tweaker 112x cab, with Celestion G12H-30 and a Jet City JCA12S+ cab with custom-voiced Eminence driver, in serial.
Few different Amps, because I'm still playing different styles/music. deLisle and Egnater each bring something different to the table. The Bugera is just mobile for playing wherever easily, and has the headphone ability, and a very good Marshall crunch.
I play my standard 5122 through a Marshall MA100 combo. Nice rich & clean tone on the neck pickup; nice and raunchy on the bridge; real edge and bite on the overdrive channel.
Currently using & liking an Orange Dual Terror with a custom vertical 2x12 OB cab...I like to spank it through the TT channel for rhythm work mostly...teeheehee

Usually a JTM45 clone, but recently I've rediscovered my 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone and am using that a lot. The speakers are various vintage Aussie made Rola guitar speakers.
