I gotta get some better pics of mine....
I will say that it is one of the finest instruments I've ever played. The things sounds like heaven as well.
Needless to say, it elicits massive comments wherever it goes!
I'm usually relatively low key, but when I saw this one hanging in a shop I knew it would be mine someday. It took me about a year to work up to it... Now, I can't wait to play it every chance I get!

That blue pearl looks like Ringo's drum set from the early Beatles. How could you not love it?

That's what I was thinking. I saw that & instantly thought of Ringo's Ludwig kit.
I can't decide if it's cool or gaudy, but leaning toward weirdly cool. Maybe you need to see it in person to get the full effect.

Sometimes gaudy is cool. IMHO, this is one of those times.

I kind of bounced it off my wife and I can tell this is going to be a long term project...but in the end...the result is probably inevitable. A pearl jet next to the 6122-1962 and 6120N. I wish I hadn't seen it. Now I am going to obsess for the next year or so. Axis, you should have said it's a crummy guitar and don't waste my money on it.

I saw mine in a local shop... It was hanging there and I walked by, it grabbed me. But, wisely, I didn't grab it. I snapped a photo and sent it to a friend. Almost a year later, I was in the same shop... with the same friend... and we were goofing around killing time. He snuck it off the wall and handed it to me.
Sadly, I knew the second I put my hands on it, it would be mine... somehow.
I have since found out that several members of the Gretsch forums have fiddled with my guitar and it forced several of them to buy a Duo Jet of some kind. Few felt compelled to stick with my pimped up Blue Sparkle Jet.
As to gaudy/cool... yes. It is not an understated guitar. You must be rather bold to think you can pull it off on stage. I am rather full of myself, so it works out! LOL Either that or I just don't give a rat's behind about embarrassing myself! My wife thinks my embarrassment meter is broken... So, y'all can decide for yourselves which story is true!
But, really, it's a crummy guitar and you shouldn't waste your money on it.

It doesn't look like Ringo's drumset in any way, shape, or form. It looks just like Charlie Watts' first set of Ludwig drums, which were Sky Blue Pearl. Ringo's drums were Oyster Black Pearl; black, with white striations running through it. He had several sets in that color.

You are absolutely right. My room mate in college had a set of black pearl Ludwigs. Of course, looking like Charlie Watts' drums is not really a downgrade...

I think so. And this from a company which also has glitter-sparkle guitars.
I just don't think I have the personality to pull something like this off on a stage in public. A friend thought it was a bit of a leap in extrovertedness when I got my first orange guitar (G3161 Streamliner.)

You need liability insurance with this guitar, right? I mean, if you get hit with a spotlight on stage, the reflection could put somebody's eye out.

This one drummer i know threw his stick into the crowd and it hit a lady in the eye and she was pissed, he's insured now. I think he gave her some free gear or something but was pissed!

Definitely reminds one of Ringo's drums. It also is somewhat reminiscent of the great James Honeyman Scott's tiled MOP guitar. Different, but it still reminds me of him. I loved his playing.
