It's a very nice guitar. My friend has one. He has some problems with the finish though. It shows every finger print, and it's started to polish up at contact points.
I, personally, think that would give it quite a cool vibe, but he likes his equiptment pristine.

I think thats just the nature of certian matte finishes. It's kinda like a dry grainy feel. I love my satin Prs satndard 22 and it's been polished in area's due to being handled and I love it for that. But i think matte and satin could be a little different.

Very cool cover by the way. Man I gots to get that guitar. If I wasn't tied up in building a house right now I'd be all over that guitar or a Sg standard or a Charvel san dimas. OMG I'm building a list as we speak I better stop talking. That dangerous talk.$$$$

Yeah, I think matte = dull, without shine.
satin = semigloss, tweener
gloss = shiny
The pics I've seen of the Tim Armstrong make it look matte.
Any paint with regular clear coat on it makes it gloss.

That model is actually Tim Armstrong himself. I own this Gretsch model and absolutely love it. The price tag seems kind of steep for an Electromatic, but it's well worth every penny.

This was the first Gretsch I really ever got into. It's a great segue from your normal solids to what you get with a Gretsch. Had I not played the Tim I probably wouldnt own my Silver Falcon and C.S. Blue Falcon today. Awesome guitar!!!
