So this is the only current production Jet with a nitro finish outside of the Custom Shop... does anyone own one? What do you love about it?
As I spiral into madness trying to work out which Jet to buy I can't help thinking that I'd be happier dropping that much cash on a guitar with a nitro finish rather than super-shiny poly. Ok so I'd have to mod it, but that seems par for the course regardless of which Jet I choose.

Yeah, baby, yeah. My fav model of Jet, sadly it was impossible to find one in Oz when I was Gretsch shopping. I adore those big block inlays, too.

Yeah it looks amazing. Some
of the Custom Shop vibe minus the massive price tag...

@beatnik - did your mate stick with the fixed Bigsby arm or switch it for a standard one?

Bear in mind the uber vintage vibe with the dsv/ dynasonics... I strung it up with various gauges...9s, 10s etc. Tried flatwound 11s and it now does exactly what I wanted it for...cliff gallop..
My sslvo is much more of an all rounder.

Thanks for the info - uber vintage is what I'm after really. I have a 335 for versatility and I'm craving some fifties twang. Do you have any pics of yours? I'm curious as to whether the finish/stain on the back is a nice dark
brown... it's a little light for my liking on many of the contemporary Jets.

They're the vintage brown rather than the modern orange...

G6128T-DSV is my Holy Grail Gretsch
I just got one of these on February 9 and it is the best electric guitar in the world! Right now it's in stock condition. I'm going to play it for a while before I contemplate changing the bridge. I'm getting used to the stationary Bigsby and am starting to prefer it already. The neck feels perfect in my hands. It's supposedly based on the 1956 Jet and has a 1950's profile. It is just a little bit fuller than the GH Jet which is based on a 1957 or the new Electromatic Jets with the blacktop Filtertrons which I recently had a chance to try out. The nitro finish is great and the back is brown even though it may look more orange in pictures. The tone...oh my soul! A Dynasonic Jet is unbeatable. The tone knob is the key to this guitar's versatility. If I turn the tone down most of the way it has a P90 type of tone, with the tone in the middle you can get more of a Strat or Tele type tone but fatter and with the tone all the way up you get the full on Gretsch chime with rich mids and lows. The tone knob seems to be more of a treble control because the lows and mids aren't affected as much which is a good thing. There are no weak mud or icepick spots in the tone sweep. Every postion and every pickup configuration generates amazing tone. I included a pictures of the day I received the guitar at my office. I had our shipping department run it through the X-Ray machine so you can see how it's chambered.
This guitar RULES! If you're contemplating getting one and you have the means to get it I say go for it. God willing this is my heirloom guitar that will be with me for the remainder of my life.

So I'm looking at the same model and I just want to clarify something:
1). As I understand from a post above this actually comes with both Bigsby arms?
2). The Gretsch site says it comes with a Gretsch *tweed* hard shell case. But your pic shows a standard black case. Can anyone confirm the tweed?

1. yes both bigsby arms
2. its supposed to come with the tweed, nickyboys came in the black case but after contecting the supplier questioning why he didnt have the tweed they sent the tweed im guessing that some suppliers try and blag sending out the black case instead as they could sell the tweed case for more on its own (thats just my opinion though)

Unfortunately no.
I got it used, and I suspect that they switched the cases. Not a huge deal as I got a killer deal on it, but I do love the look of those cases.
