I like the Gretsch-meets-Rickenbacker fretboard inlays.

Not in Orange or White. I wouldn't buy either one the Gretsch or the Eastwood myself. I've done it too many times. By the time I paid for the needed upgrades to make a sows ear into a silk purse I would have been better off saving my money to buy the "real deal" a proline Gretsch.

There are only nuances between tones (only heard by musicians). Most of our tone searches are only for us, the audience does not have the "ears" to tell the diff. IMHO. For instance, I play bass at church, and other than the color and shape diff, no one knows the Rick from the Bird (tonewise)

It is so true remember my wasted bucks $$$$$$$ on upgraded my G3161 Historic?(pic attached) I'm still trying to forget. Real cool looking guitar but no matter what I did it never could measure up. Lost my @ss on that one. For what I had in it I could of had a proline give or take $200.00. I am Gretschless right now but in the hunt for maybe an Annie Jr. I'm tired of Orange Gretsches for a while.

GAS will get you and makes you do things without the aid of patience. I will concur that if you want a Gretsch, save up and get a pro-line. This is not cork sniffery, just someone who has been through a long line of guitars and played a bunch of Gretsch's. I bought (2) 6120's one with Filters and the other with Dynas. THat was the end of my Gassing for a Gretsch. I am quite happy with both guitars and would repeat the purchases if necessary. Nothing wrong with Electromatics, they just aren't the same...

There are some of us who scrape through this world on $10 or $12 an hour. Saving for a $2300 guitar (or 4 of them) isn't an option for all. These kind of guitars, as well as Electromatics let the poor man experience decent guitars too.

I am one of those guys, I've had just about every electromatic there was ( still have a Corvette) and worked my way up the ladder by lay-a-way or good deals from members or from gifts. I it can be done. The first proline was a 1960 single Annie I bought off of ebay for $500.00 Then I bought a 6119-62 off of the Tele forum for $500. it needed the pups. Heck even the guitar that Sarah has (6118-125th) was mine and I bought it from Mugsy......and so on. Yes it can be done, for what you spend on the mod jobs on your electromatic you can own a prolevel. Now I'm not say the electromatic are Junk, not at all! I'm saying, no mater what you do to a electromatic or historic, they will never be a pro level, close but you won't be there and it isn't that hard to get into a pro level.

Gezzer, that guy could be playing with His Johnson or playing with his Jay Turser, or playing with his Agile, and he would still sound wonderful.

Student loans. It's the only way to go. Studied Jazz in college so it made sense to me at the time..

I'd be curious to know if it's hollow or semi-hollow. It looks an awful lot like the Agile AS series from Rondo music, which are semi-hollows, yet it has a floating bridge, so it seems to suggest hollowbody.

I agree with what's said though. By the time you slap a Bigsby on there and possibly buy pickups for it, depending on your taste, you may as well at least buy the Electromatic.

The guy in the video says it's a semi-hollow like a 335.

From the review of those 12 strings at the GDP, they are suppose to be pretty good. A member here has a white bass he put Gretsch bass pups in to it and loves it. I wouldn't mind the bass either.
