Default What would your signature models look like?

I know we'd all love to receive an unlimited gift certificate to the Custom Shop, and even design a model that would bear our names. Let's hear it. Design your hypothetical signature models here.

The StrumRose UNlimited edition (available at electromatic prices, as long as we're fantasizing.

Hollowbody in dark red to walnut stain.
3" deep with trestles (deeper than a falcon)
25.5" scale
17" width
Laquer finish, with satin finished neck
Ebony fretboard with neo-classic half-moons (don't care for humpblocks)
Ivory colored binding on body, fretboard, and open f-holes
Gold hardware (don't ususally love gols, but I think it would look beautiful with this stain.
HSFilters (I know many rave about the TVJs, but I haven't tried 'em and I LOVE my filters)
V-cut Bigsby with Chet handle
Brass TruArc with tone holes (compton option available as well)
Mud switch as well as tone and volume pots for each pickup (not sure that's all possible, but we're fantasizing, right?)

StrumRose DSV

Same as above with Dynasonics.

StrumRose Jet
DuoJet in StrumRose stain.
Same fretboard, hardware, trim, controls, pickups, and Bigsby as StrumRose and StrumRose DSV.

StrumRose Jet DSV
You get the picture.

Now your turns.

Good call on the carved top and back. I like the idea of the cream/black/cream purfling binding. Might have to adopt those two to my own.

But can't you just make yours? Wish I could...

I knew this would produce some great ideas. Keep 'em coming. Maybe Fred will pay attention. I'd love to see them at least do a T-Rose G6119 DSV.

And I agree with dfreeze about the vertical logo!

An orange 6120 with ebony fretboard, block inlays and all Duesenberg hardware including tremolo. Hope that don't get me banned but you did ask.

Does that include Duesenberg pups?

A lefty caeman cigar box dobro, with Rockin Repairs installed duosonics and a couple built in a/b box switches, with the G brand upside down and longhorn and cacti fretboard inlays on a 2011 Squire p bass neck, and an oversized "ishtar" guitar strap made by Robert Johnson.

Default Oh Yeah, My Dream Machine's a Lot Like Yours, Strummerson!

Hhhmmm, I'd go with the TVJoneses (or even Lace Alumitone's, as you know), but what you describe is so close to my thoughts, the slight details seem trifling.

But I've got to admit, Tara's got me eager to try out a Duo Jet at my earliest opportunity! (Hhhmmm, how'd it sound with Alumitones?)

Default And maybe a Base-Six version

Not instead of your Dream Machine, Strummerson, but maybe in addition to it, how about the same thing, but tuned an octave lower, with a full set of six strings, with the appropriate longer scale, and a deeper body: maybe even four inches deep.

Would that be cool or what?

There's got to be some AWESOME design possibilities, that no major company would produce ONLY because they wouldn't sell enough of them. Unfortunately.

Sure does along with the jack plug socket surround, tuners, tone and volume knob and the three way switch.

Holy Majoly!

Make that two, please.

EDIT: Actually, I just thought of one little difference - I'd like the kind of aged white pickguard like my '61 Jet has, rather than the silver. I dig that.

As you can see, there aren't a lot of changes to make. The message here is not that I'll never have a G6128LATS with a Zero Fret, or a 12-string G6196LATS with aged Humpblock markers. The wonderful thing is just how close the factory offering comes to being ideal (in my eyes)!

And, in most respects, I can get there at relatively low cost, starting from a stock guitar.

Well done, Gretsch!!

Oooh yeah, I'll take a white guard too.. I didn't think about that..
I'd also change up the filtertron surround so it looks better with the Dyna..

Now THATs a Jetenstein!

a Duo Jet as follows: Dynasonics wound slightly warmer than standard Gretsch Dynas, but less than Duncans/T-Armonds, say about 8.25-8.5kΩ; script logo; Grover Sta-Tite tuners; fossilized ivory nut; rosewood fingerboard with hump-block inlays; nickel hardware; bar bridge with rosewood base; arrow-only knobs; battleship grey pickguard; B3C tailpiece; midnight blue or dark teal opaque top or amber transparent flamed top; back/sides/neck walnut as normal; perhaps checkerboard binding like a vintage Kay or Rickenbacker if i'm feeling a bit mariachi, or alternately light in the loafers. the mahogany for the body and neck would be specifically chosen for straight grain and matched for tap tone, the maple would be chosen for consistency of grain. everything would be directed to the goal of creating the most resonant instrument possible, a guitar where you could hit an open "A" string, go to the kitchen, mix yourself an delicious adult beverage, come back into the living room, and find the string still ringing.

Yeah, I started planning this one out last week. Only difference will be GFS NYII's as opposed to dynas.

Although, It would be nice if I didn't have to make it!

5120 sized archtop, non-laminated spruce top and bottom, maple sides and neck. Full accoustic qualities by missing braces. Rosewood FB with Block Inlays. Unlacquered waxed finish. Three-ply black/white binding all over including the f-holes.
TV Jones Classic/Plus in EM2 option, master tone and volume pot. Bigsby B6, Tune-o-Matic bridge on ebony base, Kluson Vintage Tuners.
