Another 'What is it?' Thread :)
Hi there, Gretschies!
I do hope you don't find this rude of me - I would have posted in the Intros forum but I didn't really know what to say - but I'm in a bit of a pickle!
I was bought a very pretty Gretsch guitar for Christmas in 2005, when I was interested in learning. Unfortunately, other hobbies restricted that learning so I ended up with the guitar packed away in my wardrobe until recently after only a few plays!
It's in lovely condition (albeit needing a bit of a dust!), so I decided it'd be better off going to a home where it would receive some attention. The only thing is - I don't know anything about it to be able to sell it properly!
From Googling (and the obvious signs on the guitar itself) I've managed to find that it's a Sparkle Jet (Synchromatic) with an 'F' Hole. Pretty pitiful, huh?
I was just wondering really if anyone here would be able to give me some information about it? What model it is, when (abouts) it was made, how much it's worth, etc.
I'd really appreciate it.
Here are a few photos (apologies for the bad lighting!):
Thanks in advance! x

It's a G1629 Synchromatic Sparkle Jet, no idea what the market value is, but they're beautiful guitars. Are you sure you want to sell it?

Hey - thanks for responding.
I do feel really attached to it, but I haven't touched it for years and feel it's a waste when it could be put to good use by someone else!

They are fine little guitars. I have a silver one. Usually they fetch $200-250 on eBay.

Though it says that these don't have binding Is it a faux binding, cause my 1628 sure looks like it has binding?
Oh, and posted for pure eye-candy:

No worries, happy to help!
I don't know about the binding, all I know is I copy/pasted that from their site...
Gretsch are NOTORIOUS for changing up their specs between runs without updating their site!

Here is my G2626 Electromatic
Syncromatics and Electromatics seem identical except for the name on the headstock. I paid $150 for mine over a year ago. As you can see, I have modified mine quite a bit and really like it quite a bit.

I think the "no binding" refers to the fingerboard, not the body.
