Anniversary Jr. case issue - very tight fit
The guitar fits when placed inside the case but when you close the lid - you have to apply some pressure to bring the claps close together and lock it shut.
I am afraid that maybe there is some undue pressure being exerted on the top and over time might mess up this guitar. I play and put it back in the case every day since I got it 2 weeks ago.
It is possible I might have been given the wrong case?
Anybody body else have an Anniversary Junior with a tight fitting case or am I just the only one.
Hey ya gatta ask to learn right?

If it has a Bigsby, are you pointing the handle backwards when you put it in?

Is it a Gretsch case and the one that came with the guitar? Did you buy it recently and did you buy it new?

The trem bar is backwards when placed in the case and I also removed the end strap pin. Bought guitar with case new at the same time and it's a Gretsch case.

hmm. I'm stumped. Did you buy it at a local store? Maybe they just grabbed the wrong case when they sold it to you. Might be worth a visit to them to see what they think. You might try laying some paper on the top of the guitar before you close the lid and then see where the paper is dented worst when you take it out so you can at least narrow it down to where it's taking the most pressure.

Does the case say Grestch on it? If it doesn't, it an aftermarket case. Make them try several cases till your happy!

FWIW, on my Duo Jet, which is definitely a Gretsch case, the trem seems to prefer being pointed in the normal direction. YMMV.

You can run the guitar through a jointer and plane off the extra thickness. We have one here at the senior center woodshop.
Seriously go back to the store and have them help you with it.

Heres a shot of mine with the guitar inside( duo-jet) the top sits a little high, and will latch without any problems, with the bigsby down or up....

Mine's about the same. I concluded that it was better to leave the Bigsby handle up. YMMV.

We just received our Annie Jr on Monday ... Being Jade is the traditional 35th Wedding Anniversary gift, I couldn't think of any better gift for us to celebrate our 35th with than an Annie Jr. She loves it ... it hasn't made it's way back into the case yet. I'll check this evening when I get home to see how snug of a fit it is ... I don't recall it being too snug when I opened her up. I did notice that the top of case has a raised section up the center (it's not flat).

I noticed that the stock cases for the Junior line up are the same they use on the Jets, Duo Jets and Penguin Jets. Basically any Jet model. However, the Jets are .5 to 3/4 of an inch smaller than the Junior hollow bodies. Even with my Penguin, the case fits tight. And when I tried to put my Junior in it, it was even worse. I recommend getting what ever the name of the case it was, that Mike sent me. Its very good and looks the part of a vintage guitar case. Plus, it will save wear and tear on your original case if you're a gigging musician. Also, I prefer the handle on the tweed case Mike sent me as it is sturdier and less likely to break.
My two cents, so take it for what its worth...... which is about a cent and a half.

Our Annie Jr came with a G6241JR case and she fits like a glove. The 6128 Duo Jets claim to come with a G6238 case ... My guess is that you have that case instead.

Does the stock case for your Penguin require some serious compression of the Bigsby?

If you have deep string and or bridge impressions in the felt in the inside of the case lid then you have a problem as you first surmised. A case should fit, not compress. Go back to thy yonder varlet vendor and have him fixith foresooth.

The one that Michelle has, came with a cheap classical guitar. The Case was worth more than the guitar. But it is a sweet case.
