Default Chet arm diameter

I want a Chet arm(don't we all) and I think I might have a cool idea for changing out the knob. Could anyone tell me the diameter of the arm and/or the knob thread?

The Chet arm on my White Falcon measures .246 on the arm, .238 on the arm threads, and the inside of the knob is .208 I don't have any way to tell what thread it is but they do look coarse.

Workknot is correct and very precise. I measure mine with a caliper and came up with "just a HAIR" under 1/4" for the shaft.

Ricochet: What you could do is take the knob off the chet arm to a hardware store and see what size bolt it will screw onto correctly. That will tell you what the thread pattern and size should be. I would guess it is metric?? That is a cool idea by the way.

Wayne, tnx for the suggestion. I don't have a Chet arm yet, but I need to finish up an order with the tattoo machine guy, for 3 bucks a piece I might as well throw a couple in.
I love 8-balls, but they've been pretty much done to death...

I wouldn't be surprised if it were English (inch) sized. Bigsbys are still MIUSA unless I'm mistaken. I played a 6122-1959 at NAMM and loved the Chet arm so I ordered one.

Well, the Bigsby BX0/BX00s are made in Asia(and have been for a while). And Asian manufacturers being clever like they are, I must asume threads and bolts to be metricsized.
If you are saying a Chet arm might come in 2 different diameter sizes depending on the Bigsbys country of manufacturing, I would probably have to agree with you.

I've only seen one style of Chet arm advertised regardless. They mount to the rotating shaft of the Bigsby so if that's the same diameter on the MIUSA and the licensed ones the thread size would still be the same.

Being nominally 1/4" diameter, another option for customizing could be a setscrewed potentiometer knob (dice perhaps?).

I'd advise against it for several reasons. A knob of greater OD would restrict the downward travel of the arm significantly. For my purposes the whole poit of the Chet arm is to be able to wrap the pinky finger around it for more control.
