Maybe A New Band!
I started working with a new band member tonight. We only put in 2 1/2 hrs of practice tonight, but it sounded really good. We have the same taste in music I think and like a lot of the same songs. Tonight we were doing some 50's-60's rock, some rockabilly and some of the cross over country. Tonight we did a lot of the songs, I remember as a kid, but never played and 4 of Marshall Tucker songs. With all the songs I learned tonight and some of the stuff I knew, it was really a great practice. I would like to get about 8 hrs. of songs down before adding bass and drums. It was a blast though, I have to say that!

I won't be playing with the new guy at the jam..that will need work, but my old band will be there. We will be doing some Classic country.

So with classic country on the menu, should I bring my lap steel to the jam?

I really like that Marshall Tucker video DaFreeze. Southern Rock meets Jazz (during the flute solo at least).

Now there was a great band,,, Marshall Tucker...
I worked stage security for them in the early 70's...
One of my room mates did the lighting for them,,, and
the Allman Brothers Band at that time... Another
room mate was a concert promoter,,, and got me and
and another room mate the job as security... We were
in the dressing/rehearsal room eating shrimp jumbalaya,,,
and drinking Heiniken,,, and Chevis Regal with them...
Paul Riddle would go into a room by himself,,, and beat
on a drum pad for an hour to warm up before they took
the stage...
Synchro,,, the word was that the flute at that time cost,,,
$20,000.00...
Such tragedy for the Caldwell family... Tim,,, Tommy,,, and
Toy...

For you Minnesotans. Anyone else see Marshall Tucker on the little stage at Minnehaha Falls in the very early 70's? I was amazed to see a guy play with his thumb like that. And nobody (including me) had ever heard of them.

Awesome story Raspy.
Years ago Stevie Ray Vaughans (maybe it was the Allman Bros.)tractor/trailer rig pulled into my Fathers Dealership for some maint. (Midlands International, Omaha. He's since sold it). My little Sister sold trucks for Dad, and ran out when she heard they'd pulled in. SRV was touring with the Allman Bros.
My sister began a conversation with the Rhodie/driver, and asked what it'd take for a couple tickets. (My Sister Glenda is beautiful and extreemely affable). He said for a bottle of rum, he'd set her up. She ran to the store, gave him a bottle and he gave her 4 sweet tickets and 4 backstage passes.
She took her best friend, Tammy, my other Sis Danielle (both also beautiful) and my Mother (who is lovely and just a hoot to be around) to the concert, and then backstage. They ended up partying on the bands bus and spent a considerable amount of time b.s.ing w/Greg and his new girlfriend. (He and Cher had recently split). They met Stevie Ray, but he was tired and a bit out of it and stayed to himself.
I'd love to have gone, but was poking holes somewhere in the middle of the Pacific.
