Johnny Depp has a thing for Gretsches
I was looking for some info on the Model 35 for a friend/client when I stumbled across this site cataloguing Johnny Depp's guitar collection... the man owns 3 Gretsches! AND he's a Jetaholic! ...whooda thunk it!?!?!
Playing a '64 Jet with Iggy Pop:
Playing a Synchromatic in Cry Baby
And playing a Model 35 in Chocolat

The man has many talents that I was unaware of and has very good taste for sure. I always like his acting.

I am a big fan as well! At least all 6'3" 225 pounds is. I am clearly a bigger fan than that Depp guy.

I can't tell you how many of his movies I suffered through cause I am a good husband. I only made it through the pirate ones cause keef was in them. The worse part is that she insists that she likes his acting. Just like I though Barbie Benton was a good singer and dancer.

I love those Pirates movies of JD. I can watch them over and over again. On the other hand, I can see why they turned him down in the video... He wouldn't stop playing the lead! Someone needs to teach that boy some chords.
I am definately jealous of him. He only had to work for about 15 minutes to be able to afford his whole collection of Gretsch guitars!
I would buy at least an hours worth if I were him. Maybe more!

Hey Tara - i'd be interested in learning any information you discovered on the Model 35. I've got one from 1933, but there's not a lot of info out there - would love to see if you found anything I didn't. Thanks!

Aww..come one quit hating on Depp!
I dig the guy. Cry Baby and Ed Wood are two movies that I will watch whenever they are on. Guys actually a really good actor. The last couple of years he's gone more mainstream Hollywood, and is less interesting than he used to be, but I still like the guy.
..and how can anyone not like Jeff Bridges????
I mean, he's the DUDE!

Unfortunately nothing much at all so far, a client inherited one from his dad recently & was hoping I could shed some light...

I've always liked Depp, especially his performances in "Dead Man" and "Benny and Joon." Clearly he knows a thing or two about guitars. Plus, you've gotta give kudos to an actor who's been good friends with Allen Ginsberb, William Burroughs, Hunter S. Thompson and Keith Richards.
