Default Shoulder Surgery pending

So last November I was playing Ice Hockey and a galute crosschecked me then fell on me! Fast forward to now, left shoulder still dislocated, still feels like a tooth ache in my joint. So after PT, Massage, Chrio and Acupuncture (not in that order) have all failed to give pain and/or range of motion relief, my Board Certified shoulder repairman is going to fix the two tears in my Supraspinatus. I should have asked if they were both tendon or a combo of muscle and tendon. That is the easy part. I am not too worried about that procedure.
His idea that the bicep tendon may be loosing its attachment point is a little more worrisome. If I wake up with a big scar instead of the little dots, then I will know it went badly and plan b was enacted. That is not good.
Anybody else been through this? I play right handed so he was confident that there would be no degradation of my guitar playing ability. He hasn't even heard me jam!
My band mates are hoping for a talent induction procedure and might be taking up a collection for that!

Had rotator cuff surgery on the right shoulder. Followed docs orders and did the PT like clockwork. I can't remember how long til I was picking again but it wasn't too bad. Spent some of the time where I wasn't ready for 6 string on my lap steel chops.

Dinomium,
Good luck with your shoulder surgery. I hope everything goes well and you're back playing surf tunes behind your neck in no time.
(Start out with something simple like 'Bombora'!)

Thanks for the well wishes everybody. I will figure out how to parlay my pending 4th retirement from ice hockey into something six stringed.
Meeting with the Physicians assistant was positive buy he said if you wake up with the super deluxe sling be ready 6weeks of downtime.
Zoinks!

6 weeks? Thank goodness you're right-handed. Life can still go on... Maybe some slide lessons in order?

Been there 15 years ago...went into boards at full throttle. Surgery was fine. But because it was my right arm, can't throw a football /baseball with any power.

On the plus side I don't hook my golf ball..alas no improvement in my guitar playing.

Make sure the surgery team plays Django Rheinhardt prior to and during the surgery. Thoughts and prayers.

Good luck on the surgery. Have the sense to move away from the sport. I played B Ball twice a week until I was 52. Result-In the last 7 years 2 back surgeries and 2 hand surgeries.

Get good PT help ASAP after the surgery and you'll be back before you know it.

The sooner the better as far as odds of having a minor repair vs a major repair. I went through the same suspense with rotator cuff surgery five years ago. I woke up and learned that I had lucked out and the repair was minor. Hopefully you will too.

My wife/hockey agent informed me that my contract with Bremerton Men's "B" League "Team Sports Hockey club" was not picked up for the 2012/2013 season. ESPN is reporting this is a hockey career ending event.

I am having real trouble getting thru my Honey Do list today... I pal of mine commented that is is the last weekend of summer for me since every thing I love to do takes two hands.
I should just go down to the jam room and play guitar till Monday morning!
