building a guitar. help me design!
i am about to build a guitar. i've decided certain aspects, but i want your input on a few things.
here's what i know i want:
body- es-335 shape, but built just like my old silvertone. so it will be hollow, with no f-holes, and a flat top and back. painted sparkly black, with a white pickguard. the shape of the pickguard has yet to be decided. also a white vinyl strip along the sides.
neck-bolt on telecaster neck. rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. im not sure what headstock shape i want yet. i was thinking a 70's strat headstock would be cool, but im unsure. as for tuners, i just want some simple vintage style chrome tuners.
and that's all i've really decided for sure. i only want one pickup, and i was thinking of a tele bridge pickup along with a bigsby for a tele. one volume, one tone. but i was also thinking of some different pickups and bridges. perhaps a floating bridge with a trapieze tailpiece and a gfs surf 90 between the neck and middle positions?
what do you think would be a good single-pickup/hardware combination on this body and neck? throw out any idea you think would be cool. price is an issue, so i cant be spending a hundred bucks on a pickup. cant wait to hear what you guys think!

Sounds cool. What about a jazzmaster pickup? I haven't heard one in a hollow or semi hollow body, but they are similar to a p90. Are you thinking about binding the body?

a jazzmaster pickup would be cool, but if i went that route, i think i'd rather get a p90 instead. and as for binding, there will be none, just like the old danelectro/silvertones.
great suggestions! keep em comin!
what about the bridge? what do you think would look/sound cool?

As cool as the '70s Strat headstock is, I think you should keep with the classic Gibson look and have a 3-on-a-side one.
Two pickups (a P-90 and whatever else), and a 3-way selector switch.
One volume. One tone. Bob's your uncle.

im using the 335 body shape, but i want to stay very far away from the classic gibson look. i want people to look at it and think "what the heck is that?" i haven't decided on a 70's strat headstock for sure, but i definitely am going to do 6 tuners on one side. kinda inspired by the dave grohl/trini lopez gibson. i might even do a firebird-esque headstock. a tele headstock has been at the back of my mind as well, but i think it might look oddly small.

i think a reverse headstock would look pretty sweet, but i find it much more comfortable to have a non reverse one.

i was thinking of using the tele bigsby. not sure what model it is. and that has a plate that i believe you mount the pickup in, like an ashtray.
burns vibratos do look sweet, but i've never used one, so i cant say for sure if i like em or not.
