Route 66 is 66 years old this year.
Route 66 first written and recorded (recorded by Nat King Cole) back in 1946 is 66 this year!
I guess now I just HAVE to stop making excuses like my daughter needs surgery and get that Dr. Z Route 66 amp (seriously jonesing for this amp regardless of the song)!
My awareness of this tune is through, of course, Chuck Berry. Certainly an influence of mine.

Hope you'll get it!
From our perspective that's just unbelievable price for the package that cost $3800 new at the local Z dealer.

We'll see. $3800, though? How?
I think that'd be more of $2800 package wouldn't it?
$1799 Route 66
$799 Z-Best
$189 Brake-Lite SA
Even if it had the Celestion Blue Alnicos (which it doesn't), it would only come to $3345.
Is there something I am missing?
Either way, though, due to the condition, it is still a good deal.

Well, I made the guy an offer for what I could do. We will see if he bites. I hope so.

I've heard quite a few different versions and that Stones version is quite good, probably one of my favorites. It's right up there with Nat King Cole's jazz version and Asleep at the Wheels swing version.

When I was a kid, Route 66 was the first song I played in a band that had specific jobs for each of the guitarists. Up until then we had just both played rhythm before and after any solo. In this song it takes two guitars doing separate jobs to get the sound - I LOVED IT!

Skev, I would warmly recommend to watch what this guy has to offer on German ebay.

He is the official Dr Z dealer, but he auction brand new amps from time to time.
You can save a bunch of €s!

Yeah, Bobby Troup also had a daughter named Ronnie. She played the recurring role of Polly - Chip's blond girlfriend on the My Three Sons TV show in the early to mid 60's.
+1 to The Stones' version of Route 66.

Bobby Troup....was married to Julie London, who sang Cry Me A River (Barney Kessel on guitar) in the film The Girl Can't Help It.
Nat King Cole gets my vote for the best version of Route 66.
