Like Visiting an Old Friend
Am currently listening to a Chet Atkins album that I remember from when I was a kid. It's called Most Popular Guitar, a collection of standards played with orchestral accompaniment. What I'm finding the most amazing is how much influence those album has had on me. Listening to it closely for the first time in years I'm finding the source of much of my concept of guitar in the context of standards and Jazz tunes. I'm hearing ideas that I've used for years, especially with regard to chord voicings. The only explanation I can come up with is that I must have some pretty deep memories of this album even though I've only heard it a handful of times as an adult.
