Good pic.
I wish the best of luck with habit. It's a tough one to beat. I look at folks I admire that don't smoke and try to keep that as inspiration. Sometimes it works, other times not so much. What keeps me going is knowing I don't have the smell on me, waking in the morning and not coughing, and the money saved really is amazing.
Just remember the board won't be the same years down the line without you on here. ;-)

Fred, you've been quit, what...three months? And now you cringe when you see a picture of yourself smoking! WOW!
G-whiz, freddyfingers here is your model. He struggled (may still be, for all I know), but he has quit. Yehaw!

i dont like the idea of those elec cigs ,
if you quit stop now , and dont smoke or pull on anything .
what its make addicting is the feel of cigs in the mouth , like i needed thumbsucking when i was youg and i couldnt sleep without it.
I smoke during the week a pack or 2 , but in the weekend i dont need it strange ha? i think a good way to stop is to smoke cigs on unregular times , lik not during your dauly 10 am break for example ,just try to decieve your brians .;; because if you can stop 3 days , your off ; the rest is in the head , or yu just dont wanna quit.

the non-nicotine elec sigs are a good idea
you have something for your hands and lips to do and you can exhale smoke
i'm just not in the mood yet to stop so i just ordered a refill model with refills with the good stuff

Quite funny article about quitting smoking: http://www.cracked.com/article_19030...-world_p2.html
Aparently, when Keef Richards visited Ronnie Wood in rehab, he told him -"No one likes a quitter!"
Good luck dude, I hope you persevere!

Good luck to you! I'm a proponent of cold turkey, but whatever works is worth it. It's tough going, especially when you've been smoking for years and years. But it's well worth it in saved money and improved health. Your skin will thank you, too! Use the extra cash for a Falcon!

G-whiz, I smoked two packs a day until 17 months ago. I did it. You can too. I take the fortune I save and use it to buy Gretsch guitars...seriously!

Good for you. Cigarettes are insidious death sticks. My mom died of emphysema and cancer, and my mother in law died of lung cancer. Both were heavy smokers. I have never smoked, and am thankful I made that choice decades ago. I tried a pipe for a while and lost it. Smoked half a cigar once. Hated it! Yech.
In a short time, you'll start feeling good. Your lungs will open up, your heart rate will go down.
Every time you want a butt, come here if you can and we'll all try and talk you through it. I'm sure there are alot of ex-smokers here willing to offer encouragement.

Awesome! I was doing the pipe thing for a while. I liked it, but never really stuck with it.

I had tried to quit a few times and it just wasn't happening, then one of my friends says that I'll never stop till I get my priorities straight. Just the word, "PRIORITIES", stuck in my head. It got me thinking deeper into myself. After that every time I wanted a smoke, I'd think of the word "PRIORITIES". Do I have any? Hell yes. That alone was my power to quit. Just one word, PRIORITIES. Good luck, it is possible to kick this terrible habit.

Two priorities work very, very well: health and extra money for guitars, basses, amps, etc.

Good luck.. I failed at keeping on the E-cigs 3 times now and gone back to smoking. Keep finidng excuses. However $$ for guitars would be a good motivator..
