Not really a big deal, just thought it was strange...

That's what I thought! The curve of the 'horn' looks squarish and not uniformly curved... Why would somebody go to all that trouble just to remove the knob from the photo?!

That photo originally had text going across it right thru the volume knob. It had the photo's owner's name printed on it I believe. Probably to prevent people from using it without permission. I think it was an unreleased promo photo if i'm not mistaken.

Eddie was the man. How hip was he to put a P-90 in the neck slot way back in the '50's? Who else even thought of switching PU's?
He was in 2 movies: 'The Girl Can't help it' and 'Untamed Youth'. I used to watch the TV guide and stay up 'till all hours to catch one of his films on the late-late show.
If I sell my car, I can get an Eddie model...I'm tempted.

Thanks Sarah93003. This is a great forum, people seem really laid back and helpful. I don't have a Gretsch (yet), but I came to learn about them and decide on what I want to get. I'm thinking my wife might frown on me buying the Eddie model. I better get it out of my mind.

I agree with BipBop.
You can see where the horn of the guitar and the lapel of the jacket have been worked on.
