I posted this over on that Tele forum that many know and love, but thought I'd post it here, too, since it's my favorite "record" (CD?):
I haven't seen a 40th anniversary post for "The Beatles" (White Album) yet and thought I'd take the initiative. It's actually a couple of days late, but I've been out of town and away from the Internet recently and just got back.
What an amazing, diverse, odd collection of songs that really shows off the Beatles at their best (and some would say worst).
It's my favorite Beatles record and, probably, my single desert island disk, if I were forced to choose just one.
I caught a pretty cool radio show the other day called "The White Album Listening Party" on NPR and it was an entertaining listen. You can listen at
http://www.prx.org (registration required for the full version).
Also, I haven't listened to it yet, but NPR's "All Songs Considered" has a show at:

IMHO, it's simply one of the most stunning musical accomplishments ever.
Besides, I figured the 40th anniversary of what I consider the greatest album ever done would be a good occasion for my 100th post.
Does this make me a "Gretschie"?
