Default 2010 Gear Round Up

What musical gear, aside from strings and picks did everyone get in 2010?
I didn't make any major purchases this year: no new gutars, amps, or pedals.
I did get a Korg clip-on headstock tuner. It is much faster and more accurate than my old intelli-touch tuner (Its over 10 years old). I also got a couple of instructional books, one for Jazz and one called "Guitar Aerobics" which has a few hundred useful exercises nicely organized. I also got the 2Paul Pigat videos. That's it for me, though I do anticipate a guitar, pedal, and maybe some pick-ups in early 2011.
For big stuff, I have to live vicariously through all you folks.

2010 was my Gretsch awakening:
October: G6120-1959LTV
November: G6128TCG
December: G6199-LWP
2011 will be year of financial reckoning.
I think I may have a developing problem..........

This was a non-gear year for me. I bought a Jaguar in '09 and did a few mods that trailed into early 2010 but that was about it. I had to buy a new pickup this year and that's really bitten into the discretionary budget. I also did a lot of traveling early in the year and that vacuums up the money faster'n anything. Other than the Jag' mods and a Snarky tuner I can't recall buying any gear in 2010, not even strings.

Guitar: Gretsch 5120. I added an aluminum tru-Arc bridge and Tara modified it with a TV Jones magnatron neck pup and a Classic Bridge pup.

Amp: Vox AC4TV. I'm currently waiting for a set of replacement tubes 'cause the stock ones (or at least the preamp tube) are on their last legs.

Pedals: TC Electronics Polytune and Barber LTD SR overdrive pedal.

The big deal was a Gibson Firebird. Didn't even know I wanted one, until I stumbled into it. NEVER should have plugged it into that Twin Reverb...

No new guitars for me this year (the last were my two Jets in April & July last year, and then an acoustic for xmas), but I did buy my amp this year; an Orange Dual Terror, and I did build my pedalboard! - I also sold off a lot of stuff, 6 guitars.

After buying the CG Duo Jet last year, I thought I'd lay low for a while.

Then I bought an MXR Carbon Copy from another G-T member.

Then I got a pair of DynaSonic pickups for a project guitar that I decided not to install them in.

Then:

And then:

And then:

And there's a pair of GFS Surf 90 pickups on the way. For the project guitar that I didn't put the Dynas in...

It all started in March when I got my orange 5120 with pinstriping.
That baby was closely followed by an Ibanez 12-string acoustic guitar.
And August was definetely the best time for purchasing a new guitar:
I finally got my G6136SLBP Brian Setzer Black Phoenix.

In addition to the guitars I got several pedals (Marshall Jackhammer and Compressor, Danelectro Echo,...) and a few days back, I ordered my Atomic Brain :-)

I really splurged on gear this year and it's worth every penny!
  • Gretsch Country Gentleman II in march
  • Trace Eliott velocette SE amp in may
  • Hagstrom BJ12 12-string acoustic in june
  • Motion 6-string acoustic in july
  • iPad in september
  • Gretsch 6120DSV in october

... and now I'm shopping for a bigger amp too.

2010 was a good gear year for me.
I got a:
BBE Sonic Stomp.
Boss BD2.
Clipped D4 and D5 on my DS1.
Built two pedalboards.
MXR DC Brick.
Boss BF3 Flanger.
EHX Electric Mistress for Christmas.

That's it for me, I'm really comfortable with my Jet and my amp.
