New Gear
Well today i had to do it. I needed this new solid body bad enough that i decided to throw away the car repair fund on my new 08 Jagmaster.
Squier Jagmaster with Duncan Design Pups. Feels great for a squire, and i've decided as i will continue to enjoy it, that I will casually mod it over the period of a few years. just basics. Tuners, pots/switch, Nut/saddles and fretting for last. if the nut outlasts the fretting i will just order a neck and just be done with it all.

Congratulations. The Squier
Series are a real deal for the
money. IMHO, they are very
well made, and great players
when set-up the way you
want it.
I love mine. I had SDs installed in
mine. I have the sunburst model.

Yeah these Squier's cost a lot less to maintain and are much more satisfying!

yeah, I'm pretty happy with it so far. I practiced with it last night and have a gig today and cant decide what to play if that tells you anything.
When i bought it i made the tech re-string it with 10's. It looked about as good as my first string up (WAYYY too many winds around the post!) and they didnt slot the nut at all! Thank goodness they are using plastic nuts now and its not that hard to just wear it down with the string enough to get it stabalized. So i basically "broke it in yesterday @ practice."
Need to adjust the bridge, and can already tell that is going to be replaced along with the saddles and probably the tuners all at once. (cheapy zinc w/ chrome)
I think the fretting will last about 2-2.5 years, so i have a while before i need to contact Warmoth for a new neck. (seeing as how when the frets go, I'm just going to get an all maple/maple fingerboard with nicer inlays and a pre-slotted nut)
the Duncan Designed Pups, sound great actually. I like them. they are warm, they still twang, and can RAGE all at the same time. the pots and jack dont crackle at all. Switch is a little different story, but thank goodness for the pick-guard mounted stuff. Half the time and effort to swap electronics.
couldn't be happier with how much I paid for this Gem.

Drewgrass, I have that very same Squier VM Thinline Tele. I love it! Do you find you play yours a lot? I have another Tele, but this one gets equal playing time because it just sounds and plays so nice!

Yeah love it, couldn't put it down. The Duncans are great pickups, it plays and sounds better than some of the tele's I tried out at 3 times the cost.
Have had some issues with the bridge saddle stability. Due to the off center string guide and the lack of downward pressure from the strings, any up strokes were lifting the saddle on the treble side and loosening the grub screws. Waiting to take delivery of a 3 saddle bridge and hopefully this will balance things out and I can get back to giving it some serious attention.
Kind of got distracted from it when I put the B Bender on the other guitar last week.
