Deployed Again
Well, I'm deployed again. Last time I came back a ot of people didn't knwo I was gone, so I thought I'd let everyone know. It's chilly, and I'm getting used to the change in my sleep schedule, but I'm playing my Tele and have an understanding roommate who doesn't mind. Most of the time he's watching movies on his laptop anyway.
Speaking of, he said I'll probably be able to borrow it to keep up on my blog so HOPEFULLY there won't be too much of a disconnect this time like there was last year.
Just thought I would let everyone know!

That's why they make toothpicks and wood glue.

I hope your time goes quickly and that you will be able to stay in touch. My son-in-law's due home in a week. The internet has been wonderful to keep in touch with him while he was deployed and hope it is for you too.
Speedy return - BE SAFE!

Good luck brother, spent 2 tours over there. Both times I took a guitar, first time an Ovation the second time my sent over my 12 string. I told her to send the guitar under the bed and she sent the wrong one. Oh well I got to spend lots of quality time with it and learned allot about playing her.
Anyway good luck and god speed.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I can say where I am but it's in the middle east. It hasn't been long and I already can't wait to be home. I miss my kids and wife.
Dafreeze, the neck holes are holding up. Before mybsecond deployment I put crazy glue inside to help solidify the wood's threads and it seems to help but the neck's frets are pretty gouged from a previous trip when it didn't occur to me to wrap a towel around the neck. I try to stay away from those particular notes.
I was thinking of getting itcrefret because the gouges are really deep but it would probably cost as much as a new warmoth neck with steel frets and a nice, chunky neck profile. Maybe after some other trip.
When I swap out the neck I also plan to buy these metal thread inserts Mugsy turned me on to so when I take apart or put the guitar together it's metal on metal, not metal on wood. I also plan on getting a top loading gfs bridge. I don't like the six saddle with two posts in each saddle bridge. It doesn't make much to make those posts go out of whack and then it buzzes big time.
Still, it's the best possible deployment guitar I've ever come across.
