This is great news..

I see it like this, I am no modder don't buy a guitar to mod it. So now I can buy a stock Gretsch at a affordable price and don't have to mod it.

If you add up the price of a 5120/22 add in TV Jones.. your in the price range of this stock..

Plus it looks like a Falcon..

Wish they had kept the neoclassic inlays, especially if the fretboard is ebony.
Wonder when they hit market

Sad to see the 5120/2 go. Never played one, I have wanted one for a long time.

The older 5126-9 range was affordable and needed no mods, but that too got dropped. My 26 is still the best guitar I've owned. Maybe Gretsch could bring these back, with T-Armonds.

So far there are 4 pages of discussion regarding the new G5422. It hasn't been mentioned here, so now you know. When you see the new G5422, you'll see it's awesome. No news about a replacement for the G5120 - yet.
Glad I got mine !!!! HANDS OFF !!!!!!

Fretboard is Rosewood I believe. In the photos posted on Gretsch Pages, it looks Rosewood. The lighting here I think is giving it a false dark ebony color. It happens sometimes.

Nope. For one thing, the 5422 is thinner than the 5122. 2" body depth as opposed to the 5122's 2.25" body depth.

Yup. Count on it. In all likelihood it will probably be closer to the specs of the 5120 (deeper body).

I believe the new G5420 will have a 2.5" deep body like the Annies and Tennys. The f-holes for the new G5422 us the same pattern as those of the Setzer Hot Rod series. Before that they used the same f-hole patterne as the Annies. Here's a closeup of the pickups and the f-hole is definitely not bound:

agreed. When I meant "deeper" body, I was referring to it opposite the 5422-- in other words, the "5420" will have a deeper body than the double cut. I still expect that it will be slightly more shallow than the 5120 though. Your logic on the 2.5" deep body seems pretty sound.

The "f" holes are bound, just very hard to see against the white. Nice pic BTW
