Default The WHITE Pro Jet is back - The G5436T.

If you all didn't see my post in the previous thread where I found an older white Pro Jet on eBay, well here's some news:

The White Pro Jets are back.

I was bored and googled up some pics of a white pro jet, and I came up with results of a "New G5436T SFR White Pro Jet".

It's on Guitar Center, MF, and Music 123.

So, I decided to give Gretsch a call. The spokesman laughed and said "Yeah, we just released these. I can't believe someone called already regarding them".

Now, I have no idea what the "SFR" means. I asked the spokesman if it had GOLD hardware like the old rare ones, but he wasn't sure. He said that they might come with chrome hardware (which is personally a huge no on buying it for me if it is).

I also forgot to ask if these came with the 'Filtertrons in them also. However, I'm pretty sure that the "T" at the end means it comes Bigsby equipped.

I asked if it was a Guitar Center special run only...and he told me no, that all dealers can order them.

All I have to say is: If this new model is white with gold hardware and comes with stock filters, then...goodbye newly modded black PJ, and you guys can definitely count on a new guitar demo soon

Haha, cool. There's no reason that these won't come with the Blacktop Filtertrons. I'm digging mine in black, sans Bigsby.

It's FSR. Not SFR. Factory Special Run.

If its white on chrome, I just might have to get one!!
For me gold hardware seems putrid. But that's only my opinion. I myself would never sport gold, so tacky. I once had a white penguin, had to be the absolute best sounding/feeling guitar, but I could not stomach the gold, so I sold it..

I feel your pain. I just installed Filtertrons in my Pro Jet - that's about $150 down the drain for me.

However, SELL it, and use the extra cash to invest in one of these white ones. The value on these new white PJ's will go up for sure. I'm sure we'll have quite a few here in LA!

I don't believe their value will go up much, they are priced $700, not so far from the used Duo Jets...

You're right. I probably just said that to boost my morale up...

Nevertheless, I'm calling Gretsch again first thing tomorrow morning to get the exact specifications on this guitar. I shall post it here once I have all the details set in stone. I'll keep everyone updated!

I wasn't trying to demoralize you at all, the White Jets are über cool, I'm sure there will be sold in a blink! I hope they will use the B3 type Bigsby on them.

I have my doubts about the B3 - the bigsby is probably the same as the G5435T to keep the costs down. I shot an email to Gretsch a few minutes ago about details - hope they respond by morning!

G5436 - isn't that a silver sparkle top? Here are the direct links to the pages, but there are no photos yet:

Hmmm...good point...I remember the G5236T being silver...

Unless the "White" on the websites are false advertising....that'd be a huge bummer

I had the spokesman at Gretsch email me the specs.

I believe you all will be surprised.

Here's the MAIN stand-outs when I read the specs.

- Arched Laminated QUILTED maple.
- Chrome Hardware - not gold!
- Comes equipped with an ebony Space Control Roller Bridge - no Adjustomatic here!
- Pickup AND Tone Master switches!
- Filtertron Pickups - NOT blacktops.

I'm going to wait for pictures before ordering. Even if it has chrome hardware...I can't resist a white pro jet.

This is FANTASTIC news. I'm happy to see that Gretsch is listening to the fans slash customers.

Wow I'm glad they're doing interesting things with the Pro Jet line. But I'm glad I have my (I forget the number) single cut gold top with blacktops and Bigsby. I like the adjustomatic, separate pu volume controls, and blacktops. Now if the new model were white with gold hardware, gold binding, and blacktops I would be bummed. That would be a factory White Pigeon. It would make be regret buying my gold top. I want the gaudiest guitar I can afford.
