Default Just Put Filtertrons in my G5120

Big Improvement!!!!

They have this sparkle and sizzle that the Gretschbuckers just didn't have. Now I know what the "Great Gretsch Sound" is. I really noticed that the height of the pups makes a big difference. I used the traditional screw into wood method and at first i didn't have enough height in my wood blocking and the pickups were too low and sounded like a$$. But now I have them to the recommended height and the sound great.

I upgraded my buddy's g5120 with filtertrons. It sounds killer now. It blends much better with my 6120 and the rest of the band now.

i put them in mine right after i bought it . like night and day the difference is so much. best thing i ever did . i also added the mud switch with an 005 and 010 cap on either side of it. just for quick subtle changes.

Gretsch Filters are a very good inexpensive upgrade for a 5120. I upgraded my 5120 with them and it sounds great. I live in the UK and even with shipping they cost less than $100. Here's a picture of my guitar with Filtertrons and a Compton bridge.

Definitely a needed mod for the 5120. The Stock pickups really left alot to be desired. The sound was flat and they didn't adjust high enough to the plane of the strings to get a good signal. The Filter'trons are a great replacement.

Yep hopeing to do mine friday I have everything except the mounting kit I bought from Riley, I hope it comes today that way I can start early, if it don't show by friday I'll have to do my own thing, basicly all I need is the screws to mount the pickup to the adapter plate there harder to find than I thought 3M the longest i've found are only about 3/4" long, not quite long enough. Got my SS Compton installed sounds real nice more chime and sustain, thanks Pop's
Oh forgot to mention you did a realy nice job.

Default HS Filtertrons arrived

I just got my 5120 last week and I just got a pair of HS Filtertrons this week. Looking forward to the mod. It's not that Gretschbuckers are bad, they just don't have the twang and jangle.

In the past I've used the long screws that are supplied to fit P90 soap bar pickups when adapting Filtertrons to fit English mount style. Although they are supposed to be wood screws they thread quite well into thin metal etc. just like a self tapping screw.
