Default Corvette sound

I'm interested in getting a Corvette. The trouble is nobody stocks them, so I don't know what they sound like. I love the way they look, and have to have one. Can anyone give me some input on the sound. I need it for playing the blues. I have a Peavey Classic 30 amp. Thanks guys.

The ones I've played are very rich and warm sounding, sort of like a Les Paul Special with P-90s.

They have a very thin, sold body. The Megatrons are a ceramic magnet Filtertron, similar to the Baldwin 70's era Filtertron.

The thin body gives the guitar a nice bite - think of it as a Gretschy SG. It's also a very versatile guitar, it responds well to the tone and volume knobs, so cleans up well.

The G Love Corvette is a beast, and my most played guitar. The Powertrons are hot and fat, so this one snarls when pushed, and loves a hot tube amp.

The standard Corvette is all you really need, and covers all basses beautifully. I have one I'd be tempted to sell (as four Corvettes is too many, really) but it wouldn't be worth it to ship it to the USA from the UK.

All the best

It's worth keeping an eye on eBay. I picked up my Stumpomatic Corvette (my least favourite) for $200.

It cost me nearly $100 to ship it to the UK, but the total was still cheaper than the used price here, so you can get some bargain on your side of the pond.

Hmmm....four Corvettes. Do I get to call that a Corvette-ery? Doesn't quite work, does it........

Good luck

Corvettelicous..

Those guitars have something obscure about them, I am attracted to em in a way my bank account is not going to like. On the other hand, I also don't own a jet.. yet.

Where in NY are you? I finally found a place that was an hour away from me that had a red one. I called them before i l;eft, and they sold it a few days ago and never changed the website. So, I know what you are going through. But, I am certain you can find one, if not many in NYC.

625, even with a case is a bit steep for a guitar you can get 625 new, with warranty. Unfortunatly i have nothing that that person wants for trade.

With case, it's worth £500, tops!

I hate it when people get dissolousional about their guitars value.

Am I off? Wouldn't be the first time. I thought he/she was asking 625 US, didn't know it was in , well, i don't have that symbol on my keyboard.

sorry - I mean $500, not £500.

Maybe he's put it up at a hige price, with a view to being knocked down?

Still a shame. I am thinking that a solid body gretsch will give me the blues bite i am looking for, and i have more faith in an electromatic than i do in the sg's in the same price range.

That's one good looking guitar. Maybe he'll come down. But it seems unlikely he'll let it go for 500.
Thanks for the tip.

Corvettes are incredible. I love the sound of the Corvette pickups better than any other double coils I have. I wish I could find a seller of Mega'Trons after market.

You can certainly play the blues on a Corvette:
