Default New G5129

Aloha,

I picked up a new G5129 Electromatic from my local music store at a blowout price - $450 I really like the way the guitar feels and plays, but I want a little more out of the sound.

I like it lots, but I'm used to playing Les Pauls, and I'm looking for a little more sustain and a little more growl to the sound. Everything on the guitar is stock.

I've found my way to the TV Jones pickups, and apparently the sound to go for is the classic Gretsch Filtertron type sound. I'm wondering if anyone here has any opinions on pickups I could purchase that would give me a heavier sound and more sustain.

I intend to replace the tuners with some Grovers, as well - any recommendations there?

The TV Classic is what most of the people go for. That would give you the pro Gretsch sound. BTW Welcome!!

Grovers are the best! Any of the models will work. I think the Rotomatics would be a good match. I think they are called Rotomatics, they are the sealed back Grovers that Gretsch and Taylor and Guild use.

Thanks for the replies - I'm looking at the Power'tron's now, along with a silver set of Grovers.

I agree with the Powertrons if you are looking for a heaver sound. The Classics are not what I would call a heavy sound.
