Default just my luck.....

So my gretsch 5120 came in today and man it's a cool guitar, sounds nice plays nice only issue is a slight rattle which i thought was the bridge but now may be the bigsby but anyway it's not too bad. So im bring it back to my car happy as can be, i go to open my car boot the lock turns but the boot won't open and now it appears to be stuck with the lock open but no matter how hard i try it won't pop up and the lock refuses to turn!

i get the guitar home and play for about an hour and i'm loving it then it starts cutting in and out and making wierd sound effects, turns out my vox valvetronix amp seems to be dieing as the gretsch is fine in my old amp and the vox is doing it with my tele now aswell! i think im being punished for getting a guitar that i'm totally stoked with. anyone have any ideas on things to check on a valvetronix that cuts to about half the volume and adds wierd delays, echos and crunch to any notes that sustain?

here's a pic of the guitar, intersting thing is it came with a silver pickguard and the store rekons the last 2 they've had in have had silver instead of see through, imo it looks alot nicer and i planned on removing the pickguard but i'll now keep it.

Take your amp to a tech. If it's not the cable and not the guitar, take it to an amp tech. I don't think that PCB amp will be an easy fix for a die-hard vintage tube amp guru, but with a little patience, I'm sure he/she can fix it good as new. I thought the same thing once in Japan and the amp tech turned my perfectly working Line6 AX-2 into an unuseable pile of mush...

Sweet looking guitar. The G5120 with the silver pickguard is the new model. They do not come with the clear pickguard anymore.Congrats!

Where was your Valvetronix made? The Vietnamese-made ones are absolutely notorious for cold solder joints and poor quality control. I looked at getting one a couple of years ago, but decided against it after researching their reliability issues. And the Vox warranty absolutely SUCKS too!

I ended up saving my money and getting a James Brown-designed Kustom tube amp with a 3-year warranty.

I was looking into the head version of your Kustom and remembering yours sounding pretty good but I ran into this deal for another TopHat and me being the resident Tophat wh**e that I am! Well that's how things roll around here!
