Just got a G5120. New to the forum
Hi All,
I was just looking at amps the other day you know, pricing and looking at options. We found a Gibson G-5 and plugged several guitars into it. My wife said "which guitar do you like best with that amp?" I tried lots of teles (I'm usually a tele guy) and, on a whim, tried some Gretsches and fell in love with a 5120. My wife surprised me by going up to the counter and buying them. She said I was a "Good Boy" at the doctor's office during the painful proceedure I'd had the day before. Cassady (at least that's his name on the Tele forum) pointed me in the direction of this forum. I'll probably be spending lots of time here. (of course with the Gretsch in my lap)
Here's pics of the Gretsch and the amp.

Nice! At least you know enough to bring your pictures! BTW Welcome hope you find a home here and enjoy yourself. Cassady is a member here also. Please tell your wife that if she is buying guitars there are a few here that will at least date her!

Yes, the amp is killer. It's actually a 2003 G-5. Cant find much information on the G-5 other than it is pretty much identical to the GA-5 except with no metal guard on the back or behind the grill cloth. Also has a removable power cable. This is an old stock amp that was still in the shipping box in a music store here in Montana. They have several more I should buy.

My only compliant about those amps was that the plug into the chassis was a RCA plug instead of a quarter inch.

Welcome, unbridled.
As I said on the TDPRI, those are all keepers--the guitar, the amp and the wife.
This is a great place and I think you're going to like it here.

That's a nice combo, congrats. Some of those amps were issued in a bluish-clear plexi-glas. Those were quite cool too. The blonde/tan goes well with your G5120.

Yeah, I'm lucky to have her.
Everyone is cool here. Thanks for all the info and for welcoming me.
Coupe- those plexi GA-5s were pretty crazy looking. They'll probably be worth some coin someday.

No, I don't play out. I only started playing again about a year and a half ago after not picking up a guitar for about 15 years. I am probably ready now for some pretty simple fun stuff, if I knew some folks.
I haven't really made too many connections around here. I moved here a few years ago from Alaska and have had a tough time meeting people. I may move into Missoula soon so maybe something will happen. I'm not even concerned with gigging at the moment but I sure would like some people to play with!!
Good to have you aboard. Shoot me a PM if you make it over this way. We'll play a bit or just meet up for a beer or something.

There's a music store in Missoula that
has a bulletin board with information
from folks that want to jam...
I can't recall the name of the store...
When I lived in Hamilton,,, I would
visit that shop...

Thanks Raspy. I'm sure I could run an ad on CL or ask around the music stores. I'm just sort of waiting til it's more convenient for me. Nobody's fault but mine. Thanks
