New Pro-Jet's New Pickguard
Hello All, when I bought my Pro-Jet, I loved everything about it EXCEPT the cheesy/gawdy imitation mother-of-pearl pickguard. After all, the whole "theme" of the git was black and chrome and I thought that guard just looked out of place and cheap. Got in touch with Paul Setzer and had him make me up a gloss black one w/silver GreTsch logo. I'm VERY pleased the way it turned out and the overall look of my guitar now! Can't say enough good things about Paul, we e-mailed back and forth on a Sat. and Sun. about the details and he was always prompt getting back to me. TOTAL professional! Anyway, here is a "before" pic. Regards, G.G.

Here is the "after" pic. The GreTsch logo matches the one on the headstock almost perfectly! What do you think? Opinions Welcomed! G.G

Looks great! Did you send Paul exact measurements or did he cut the pickguard based on what model you have?

Does anyone know if a Duo Jet pickguard will drop straight on to a Pro Jet? I have GFS NYII's in mine, and it's black. I was thinking of picking this up http://www.darrenriley.com/shop/cart..._detail&p=1930

Hello All, Many Thanks for the positive replies! When I looked at the stock, pearl guard I always thought of the movie, "Patton" when the reporter asked him about his "pearl-handled" revolvers. Patton snapped, "they're not pearl, they're ivory, only a pimp in a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled revolver!"
@ K.K. no, don't wish to sell pearl guard, it stays with the guitar in case the next owner wishes to return it to stock.
@L.K. the "gretsch-buckers" work just fine for me, I play rhythym guitar!
@ Crooner, Paul sent me a scan of the stock, pearl guard with a ruler next to the p-up side and I just measured mine and everything matched perfectly!
@ andyh, the p-up "notches" on that guard look too "shallow" and the top[neck] screw hole is in the wrong spot.
Regards, G.G.

That looks great!
Also, I am pretty sure you can't use the pickguard from one model to another. The layouts are different enough they won't align. I think that's another reason Paul Setzer likes you to trace your old pickguard.

Yeah Sarah is right. It is really important to have a trace or scan of your old guard...if you still have one that is. If not I have you make me a paper pattern indicating the pickup notches and mount hole/bracket locations.
Thanks for all the kind words about my work ya'll!
Gretsch Guy, that Black on Black turned out classy!
