new prod. feeler: the Nocturne UBANGI Stomp
based off the vintage 80s white label R*t pedal, this grindy beast is reworked to sound great with a maple hollowbody gretsch. My focus is definitely the semi clean grind with twang that I hear in early live Stray Cats videos "ala Ubangi sTomp, Storm the Bastille, rumble in brighton" and the smooth raw sound from Billy Duffy's White falcon in early Cults hits.
These have the LM308 NOS metal can opamps to get as vintage R*t as possible and will have an internal trim pot for adjusting gain as well as socketed diodes so you can remove them for more of a gnarly boost or
just have fun swapping diodes for different distortion textures.
there are many R*t clones out there as well as actual reissue rats for great prices, but this one is based on the rat platform and tweaked how I want it
for my gretsch and my tele w/ dynas.
I'm gonna make 10, its called "THE UBANGI STOMP" and my graphics guy helped me finally get a shrunken head tiki on a pedal. Shot in army helmet
satin green.
this is all I got so far..

vol on the left, grind on the right and filter in the middle (where the LED is, that will move down by stomp). I went ahead and sent my final notes of my prototype to Todd (builds the PCBs) my co-op buddy and ordered 10. I'm excited. this isnt rocket surgery but its
fun.

The name is pure genius Tavo. Someone has to build a pedal by that name so it might as well be you.

okay, I bit the bullet late last night in this build so now all parts are ordered, and I will be ready to go when the stuff comes in. I found a small batch of LM308AH motorolla's so the first ten will have these "vintage" NOS jobbies. I'll get a pre order tab up on the website in another hour.

okay.. its on the website guys.
the Ubangi Stomp details:
an internal trimmer for controlling gain on the low end,
socketed vintage LM308AH opamp (the cool looking metal can),
and socketed Diodes too, so you can flip em around
for symmetrical or asymmetrical clipping.
I like the grindy raunch Setzer gets in early 81' vids when
he's goosing the bass side of a blonde amp or putting the blonde
on a vox cab. A vintage rat pedal can get that sound if its tweaked
right with an amp thats turned up big or small. I like that sound
with my gretsch, so the Ubangi stomp will do that when its gain
is set low and its volume is up. I dialed it in for this.
Which also helps get that Billy duffy white falcon in marshall
sound too.
Turn it up for fuzzy garage surf solo notes and full raunch
at max settings.
what is it? its a cork sniffery R*t pedal but its not
meant to be a clone. I like its platform when its tweaked
right for the gretsch in lower gain settings. pure RAWK.
first 10 in army helmet green.
Introductory price of $149!

update.. my board guy just called me and found a handful of even higher grade vintage metal can LM308s by Fairchild,
so the first 10 at least will have the fairchilds.
then we'll move to the motorollas I have. He thinks the fairchilds sound slightly nicer than the motorolas I think are a smidge cooler than the plastic LM308s you find in the early rat pedals. yes... yes I know, its snobbery at its finest and I dont think its going to make you play better but its fun stuff. "this goes to 11"

Order placed.
Tavo, do you have white knobs for these?
This is fun! My new Nail Head hasn't got here yet, and I'm already ordering more Nocturne mojo.
